Do You Have An Accurate Value Of Your Stuff?

I recently realized that some of my cars the BB wheels are worth more than the car itself.

accurate worth?
how?
so much stuff, so much junk, and the difference between both is just by definition.

for the fire-assurance i made an estimated guess of $ 11,000. but that is just the buyable stuff. all the accumulated odds and ends are priceless(by visa card definition)
what should be the worth of scratchbuilt stuff? pure material? material plus hours of building?

but who cares? if i would burn up my spare money at some other hobby, it would be gone too.
the money i spent - in my understanding - did not buy items with a resell value, but happyness. so the worth of the money is already received.

as concerning the final value after my death it is just nil. there is no market for modell-railroad items in this country. and selling overseas would cost about as much in postage, as the items might be sold for.
my wife and i decided, that the best option will be, that she dismantles all, making two more or less equal bulks of the stuff and store it in the attic for future use of the future children of my two daughters.

I actually had to put a price on my collection for tax reasons. So I made a spreadsheet and put down the purchase price and date of all my equipment. Then I got a value.

The drawback is, my wife found out how much I’ve spent throughout the years on my trains. :frowning:

She never noticed when they were small purchases throughout the years, but when I had a total. Well, that was another story!!!
