Richard,

I somehow missed this thread until now but will be following it from now on. I too am a fan of the Rewlaw coaches and have rode in all 4 of the cars at the Ranch and rode just in front of the Lily Belle as the park closed. I wasn’t aware of the combine being at Griffith Park but will have to visit the next time down there.

Are you the one who runs the large scale at Hillcrest during the special events?

Steve

Steve,

The Retlaw (“Walter”…spelled backwards) Combine has been on display at Los Angeles Live Steamers in Griffith Park for many years now. The Disney Studios did the complete storage shelter and display for us.

Image result for thread useless without pics

Steve - the restoration of the combine is very nice. I haven’t seen the other coaches except of course the Lily Belle at DL. I’ve just used pictures from Google and blogs from a few other Disney fans that have recreated the consist themselves. And no, I’m haven’t run anything at Hillcrest although I thought it would be fun to run this once completed. However my family went out their before Halloween to ride the train and that big loop of track has been removed. So not sure if there is a plan to restore it somewhere else on the property.

Richard

Here are few pictures of the project I’m working on…thought I had some in my freight shed but guess not…now I do.

Richard

Of course a few details like no rounded doors will have to be ok…of course I’m a little uncertain of the hand rails as you board the coaches…pictures of the prototypes seemed to not have hand rails. I’m guessing in 1955 the rules for safety were not that same as today.

I haven’t been out to Hillcrest since my friend and very active member of the Hillcrest crew, Dave Cope passed away. I used to display my antique engines there during their railfair and again around Halloween with our tractor club. I ran my live steamers on blocks a couple times also but never on their loop. I hope they find a new home for it.

I’ll have to look for them but I have pictures of the coaches somewhere that may be helpful. I’ll find them and try to post them.

Steve

Thanks Steve Borges!! I would love to see what you have.

I don’t know if this works but I uploaded a few pics of the coaches to my freight shed. If there are specific things you want to see let me know. I have quite a few pics of them and hopefully I have what you want.

Steve

Thanks Ken! Looks like I need to read up on posting pictures some more!

Your welcome, Steve. It really isn’t all the difficult. You need to grab the image URL (address), not the page URL.
