Large Scale Central

CVRR OCS

Actually Cliff,

I do know some of the items underneath. Battery boxes, waste and water tanks, HVAC, gen set, air tanks…etc. They come in all shapes and configurations along with being placed depending on the needs of the car. I’m going for the 10’ rule and can get carried away at times cause I’m just after the overall look as everything I usually build is a runner and not a shelf queen.

The only shelf queens I have reside on a Uline rolling wire shelf in my dining room cause I have no where else to store them. It;s actually kinda nice as I just roll them out on my deck, pull them off the “shelf”, put them on the track and watch them go round and round and round all day long.

I did tinker a bit in the “shed” today. I decided yesterday I want to lower the whole fleet but I also want to be able to put the car back to OEM the best I can. Everything I’m doing is kinda like a " bolt on mod " as the have for automobiles in the 1:1 world.

Call it the CVRR Rooz division.

I whipped up some ghetto lowering bolsters today and did a batch in about 3hrs. It’s just a base that I can add more Rooz division " bolt on mods " if I wish to make them.

It’s right around 1/4" lower and about where I want it (well actually I would love to slam them but I need to be practical).

this is something new for me.
excentrical installation of a bogie.

could you explain, what are the reasons/advantages?

Korm,
That is a question you would have to ask Lewis Polk.

And for that you need an Ouija board.

My guess is that it limits the swing, but I really have no idea.

They aren’t lowered that much, but it really helps the look.

thank you both.

thinking about it, the only point i see, would be to lessen the inside overhang in curves, but adding to the outside overhang.

this might be an idea for experimenting.

edit: Polk? wasn’t that the guy, who introduced the 1:29 “standard-gauge” on 45mm?
(if so, maybe there is no reason for this kind of bogies)

Korm,
Yes, Aristo Craft trains

i can not confirm, nor deny that.

as cheapskate i only have old LGB, old Playmobil, Newqida, toy-bashes and scratch-builts.

They are lowered about as far as I wanna go with them so I can PLAY with them outside. The JUNK underneath likes to rub on humps within the track work/landscape. Besides I just like to watch them go around and around for hours on end without a concern. Then pick up my TOYS and put them back in my shed when finished playing in my OWN sandbox!

Started playing with the next car up which will be a sleeper for the office car fleet. I made multiples of junk while I was doing the observation car. Some I will use some I may not use but it’s better to make a batch while tooled up and thinking about it rather than try and match it later.

I can always superdetail and add or subtract later as it’s all screwed and pinned/pressed in place for the most part. The blue tape helps me with window configuration before sheeting over.

That’s all I got for now other than I’m working on a plan and it’s in my head!
