BTW…here on the IPP&W, this morning; we had a great SG operation. The majority of the control systems were the Crest Revolution. All worked flawlessly…and always seem to. So…what’s the problem ?..anyone with questions seem to be satisfied with the answers, that Navin gives out freely…he even has repaired some of my many year old 27Mh throttles, and with no charge…the postage to Ogdensburg was quite reasonable, and lunch at the Freighthouse restrauntb was great…no trouble crossing the border…no charge…just bridge charges…no big deal…
The old 27Mh system (Onboard) works great for me…after how many years…egads, am I that old…I guess so…seems like yesterday…
Allan Lott, over in GB, is not as fortunate as we are. There is no ready source of USTrains equipment over there. They do get Aristo products at, at least a somewhat reasonable price, through the “Bachman Europe” distributorship. Anyone over there who cares to model American prototypes, is stuck with Aristo, and they seem relatively pleased with what they can obtain. The Aristo RS3 seems to be a big hit over there, as it is here, as it is a moderately priced, reasonably sized locomotive, that can run on an average small sized pike. Those big 6 axled brutes may look great, but don’t lend themselves to the guy with 10 foot diameter curves and so-called “wide radius” switches…if a fella wants non-frustrating, derailment free OPERATION…
Oh yes…they actually do seem to enjoy OPERATION…something more than just roundy-roundy; which is a great step beyond what seems to be the norm here in North America…funny, isn’t it…we with the larger spaces for an outdoor railroad…
Anyhow…just passing on a few observations, from conversations I’ve had with GREAT people all over the place…by TELEPHONE…remember those things…!!
