I dunno about the several millimeters per minute demos some locos can do, but mine’s always been able to run at least as slowly as a 1:1 locomotive starting up … I seem to have been lucky in that respect. My favorite new aspect is that with the onboard battery/RC it loads, and even slips with several cars just like a real one would…
Do you have a BBT drive or stock, Matt.
I’ve kind of had this dilemma also. I bought my Connie from a friend and have not had a problem with it. But, I know the gear has not been replaced and I know its a matter of time. I’m just anticipating it going and having a plan for what I’ll do when it does.
Since my connie will be converted to Batt/RC, do I have too much to worry if I happen to loose one of those “plunger/springs made of unobtanium” ?

On that note, maybe someday some enterprising individual will figure a way to collect all that “useless junk” from youse battery guys and peddle it for profit on fleabay

I thought that they were also responsible for the suspension? But my memory could be a bit fuzzy.

I assume you would like a portion of said profits since it was your idea??? he he he.
Bob,
One of the design criteria for the BBT replacement was to replicate the slow movement capability of the stock unit. After two years of testing, my Final question to Dave was if this was accomplishe, he said it had been done. So I proceeded with the production units.
Re: the brake rigging, ince the retainer strips are remove, I just peeled the whole ladder forward and out of the way. The siderods also moved in the same direction, but neither one detached from the loco.
