Well ya asked about counterweights on a Shay…one of the hazards of having reference material is that sometimes ya come across something ya just gotta do…seems the counterweighting is really pronounced on the older smaller Shays…

Looking good Bart, and I see you already numbered this one CP 112
i really got a good chuckle see the NO PARKING sing you used for the deck, looks really good can’t wait to see more
Bart…About that T boiler info you’re talking about could you e-mail or if you’re going to York bring it with you?
Looking good!
Nice!
…looks like #65R to me…
Great stuff, though I LOVE these little older style Shays!!!
Great awe at the work, too.
Cutting up a $750 loco just for the ‘engine’ is a whole lot braver thing to do than anything I’ve ever done, and I was in the Army.

Hahahaha luckily I had a spare engine assembly, didn’t have to slice up a whole locomotive…and I didn;t pay that much for the three truck one…ya just gotta know where to shop…
Got pics yet or is it on hold with the nice weather?
might have more to do with old age and just forgetting things, might also explain why he has so many things on the bench at once…
you have painted it, don’t you? not just leaving it in primer stage? (mmmmm… now who does that sound like …)
Bart,
I have one at about the same stage, been that way for several years. Maybe you will inspire me to keep on going. I cut out one cylinder also, made my one cylinder shay with it, but never got back to the two. I planned an open cab type.
