Large Scale Central

Clear coat.

If you use weathering powders on your models you’ll like the Krylon ColorMaster, Acrylic Crystal Clear. Flat.

It sprays a very fine mist and I could fog saturate the color in place. Some ‘clear coats’ were propelled with a jet engine and blew the colors away.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif)

Still waiting for the first kick back…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-money-mouth.gif) oh well.

I will check into which one I have of the clear coat…

I just got home. I’ll take a picture of the cans and post them in a bit.

I spray all my cars with a dullcoat first. The one that doesn’t say non-yellow turns the cars white.

John, I had the crinkly paint happen too. Like you said, I wasn’t waiting long enough. I use braggdon weathering powders on my stuff.

Here’s the two cans. These were side by side at walmart and I didn’t bother to read. Grabbed the wrong one. I even emailed Krylon and had a good conversation about what it was doing to my bethgons. They sent me two more cans to try…which did the same thing. Hmmmm…something isn’t right. So, I went back to walmart and that’s when I noticed. One is clear glaze and one is matte finish. ooops.

This is the can you want:

Funny, This is what I meant;

I like the Color Master acrylics too. Flat, satin or gloss. I’m guessing that since they say indoor/outdoor that they have UV protection. Most everything that I put outdoors gets a coat or two, figures, automobiles, power poles, ect.

John, I don’t have that at my walmart. I went and picked up another can of the matte clear and looked for yours. I wonder if there is any difference?

Matt,

Your clear coats look like stuff I used in Art Class in college last century!

The Color Master stuff was with the rattle cans, IIRC at Ace or maybe HD.

I rarely do Wally World.

This might help. http://www.krylon.com/products/colormaster-paint-primer-acrylic-crystal-clear/

lol!! All I have is a Wallyworld. It’s over an hour 1 way to get to any big box store.

I’ve been using the matte finish for years. So far no problems at all. It’s what I put on my colorado models grain elevator I made. It’s been outside for a couple years now.

I’ll keep my eyes open for your can next time I’m out.

I hear you, it’s an hour to my sister’s and she wants me to swing by every time I’m in town. 90% of the time I do, just because.

Do you have Ace Hardware out there? They usually have a better paint selection than HD. I have less than good times at Lowes… I get winded trying to gather a variety of goods.

I bought my trains at an Ace store!

I’m glad you are having good results, as the ponder got deeper, I remember relying on the Workable Fix, more than a clear coat. It’s the jar of Artist’s tools on the can that triggered my recall.

If you use chalks, you’ll like the fogging like spray, after the first over spray settled, I could be more direct in wetting the colors in place.

John

Yes, around here Ace and the craft stores carry Krylon, and does Wal Mart. Around here Lowe’s only carries Rustolium, and I will not use Rustolium.

I would call a store before going out of my way. They don’t all carry the same inventory.

Zactly

We have a True Value about 20 minutes, but it’s limited. I can’t recall even seeing rattle cans for sale at it. They do have paint for sale though. I may check there next time I’m in Carmi.

I won’t make a special trip to lowes or home depot just to check for that can. But if I happen to be near one I may check…if I remember. lol.

Remember what?

Oh yeah, the list I left at home!

I have good success finding what i want at Hobby Lobby or Michaels’.

I have post it’s clipped to my dash board listing everything I keep forgetting.

Fer sum reason I only check it when I get home in some perverse game to see how badly I did again.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Was 107F at 10 am yesterday, summer is here.

I use Krylon UV-resistant clear coat on almost everything. Really helps cut down on sun damage and fading. Haven’t had any trouble yet with spraying it over other spray paints as long as they’ve had plenty of time to cure. (I don’t use spray paints very much but when I do it’s usually Rustoleum brand.)

Also I don’t spray the clear all on in one heavy coat. Two or three light coats is better.

Stay painted my friend.
