No none what so ever.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
I have enjoyed scratch building in other scales and building model cars and modifying them; but none compares to what a person can do in the larger scales. So much more freedom to be creative. I am loving it.
I do like the way the trucks came out.
Boy a like button would be real nice here!(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
Good job buddy, those look great. I don’t think your lower bolster will be a problem if it isn’t lower than the loco’s pilot/ cow deflector (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Thanks for that Joe. Much better.
Well Done! That bottom Bolster sets higher up then the prototypical ones that I have worked with. shouldn’t be an issue, and adds weight low on the gravity thingie, and thats good. Having the trucks too rigid may cause tracking issues on less then best track. You might explore loosing up one of the side frames to the bolsters to give a bit of play to help keep all four wheels on irregular track work, or for switches with frogs that use the flange to ride over the frog.
Good job. Now cast 60 more for your first 15 cars.
First I have already experimented with loosing the side frames and I can get plenty of play in them. The only issue there with having the top bolster threaded would be having it come completely loose. Loctite would fix that.
As for 60 more well I will make at least half the many. I have seven cars to do. Better buy some more metal.
Next we will see Devon selling them cast trucks on here, once he works out the spring detail.
Thems looking good Devon

I have little desire to produce anything commercially. That’s not to say I wont work some back room good buddy deals if someone wants them. I am a horse trader at heart. Thanks for the complement. I have already modified the blank and removed the spring detail and created a pocket. So all I have to do is cast another half of a mold. So far the higher temp of the pewter hasn’t hurt the mold but I know that will happen. So right now I am thinking of casting a matching set them pour a whole new mold in high temp RTV for production.
As a side note I have made a mold for my coupler pockets and a brace/bracket/ratchet / brake handle mold (one piece) and cast my first sets in resin. Came out decent enough except a bubble int he gear of the ratchet assembly. I will use it but it isn’t right. But they came out good. Pictures to follow on the freight car thread.
Casting is fun!!!
