Call for Prizes - "Miks Build Challenge 2015"

Devon The structure will be a type that can be a cliffhanger or setting on flat ground. Not knowing
who wins it , or where they will want it to be, it will be easy to hang it on a cliff or set it on a flat logging or mining camp.

Well looks like I picked a good year to join the fun. Lots of great prizes to go around.

Thank you Dennis. Prize added to the “Prize List” on page one.

Boomer, define round. Are we talking round as in spherical or round as in cylindrical? Either? Both?

Not being a nit picker, just don’t want to go off in the wrong direction.

Or round as in tuit?

If it is a “round as in tui” we might have to make the deadline for that category in June!

Travis Dague, has ponyed up yet another prize for this years Build challenge. A Bundle of Strip wood for your future building projects.

Prize added to the prize list.

Thanks Travis

I’ve donated prizes just about every year for the build challenge.
One year I had to donate all the prizes.
I tried one year to solicit donations from various Large Scale manufacturers and retailers with no luck at all.

It’s nice to see others stepping up to the plate.
A special thanks to you, Dave, for picking up the gauntlet and spearheading the build challenge.
It’s getting bigger and better every year because of your efforts.

… but can you build a loco out of a toilet paper roll for under $25.

Now THERE’S an idea!

I just don’t know what I gots that would be of use to all participants in the contest. Being as that I am a narrow gauge kit-basher/scratch-builder what I find useful many not be to a mainline modeler.

Like Devon, but then again unlike- as his skills are better 'n mine… in the unlikely event I won, there would be an indoor diorama to protect it. My critters eat everything or steal what’s pretty.

It’s great to see this event honoring MIK grow so…

John

I am donating some stripwood as a prize. I have some cedar that I wil cut. What is the preferred sizes you guy like to work with. I want this to be something you can use or maybe I could let the winner choose and cut it as close as possible for them…?

Excuse my ignorance; but who or what is MIK?

MIK was the screen name of H. Allen Bupp.
Mik created the first challenge.
Mik died a little over a year ago.
Ralph

Thank you Ralph; now I can not be dumb about the challenge!

Well thanks for asking Bill, I made a poor assumption all this time that that was his name…

MIK’s lady friend was Kim.

He loved her a lot!

There you go.

John

There was/is a great pic of him in last years Challenge. It’s worth a search.

John

I located 2 unbuilt Fn3 Boxcar kits that Bob sold a few years back. These are the Gen1 kit (basically just lexan pieces cut and details needed but not included).

I’ll offer them up for the best Fn3 (1.20.3) whatever is built.

cale

I can’t even find the thread this was from so long ago

Thank You Cale. This just keeps getting better every day.
