Buttoning up for the winter

I suppose I am fortunate living in a very temperate climate: few frosts, rare snow, little excessive heat. I have a long storage tunnel, two tracks five 1:22.5 cheap Bachmann cars live there more or less permanently. All other stock, 1:29, is kept in a secure specially built cupboards in my premises. I run all year when possible, providing it is not raining or has recently rained or there are no cold winds. On cooler days I do try to combine other projects, which I can do outdoors and run in the old tried and tested ‘roundy roundy’ manner. Warmer days enable switching and the operation of two trains. My pre winter building maintenance is almost complete, just the elevator to re-paint. Most of the track has been lifted and relaid, it had been there for fifteen years so at dirt level some pavers and a slight grade needed attention.

Bob, what did you use for slides on your bread trays?

1x2 screwed and glued into an L shape, then painted with a couple coats of gloss white. Then attach them to the uprights

We are in the middle of our prime construction season.

Here too. The back loop is currently getting a makeover. A bit more mortar and concrete work, then the ballast goes in and settles for the winter. Track will get placed in the spring.

My run season is also June through September. The short season does make me enjoy the run time more.
