Building the Kittatinny Mt RR

Shawn,

That certainly looks like you’ll have things to think about as that ground gets covered with the white stuff. Looks good.

Thanks guys. Looks like things will slow down now. So far 8 inches of snow on the ground and still coming down. Now I can start planning for spring.

Pooor old dieseldude… Shawn, where’s your tricycle?:stuck_out_tongue:

Looks like things will be suspended for a while.

Deck next to layout.

Purty…but keep it up there…

Looks like you better get out your right of way shovel and clear the line

It’s probably buried under the snow because he never put’s his things away and mommy is tired of cleaning up after him!

All construction has been suspended.

Shawn how much sun do you get on your layout during the day.

Hi all:

Since construction work must stop for the winter - here just because of the rain, since temperature is at a very tolerable 21°C (70°F) – I think we can continue the enjoyable task of track planning talk.

Shawn, I liked your implementation of the double loop layout.

I have thought about the two parallel tunnels and maybe they are not too realistic, since tunnels were expensive and where avoided where possible. So why not combine both branches of the lumber camp and mine (at Canyon Junction?) to share a common tunnel?

In figure 2.6, this alternative is shown.

Figure 2.6 – Layout with interchanging loops.

This layout has several advantages: 1 – only a single tunnel needs to be built and maintained, 2 – you can increase the minimum radius of the loops to 5’, 3 – several new operating modes are available, including entering from one loop and existing from the other.

The inconvenient, of course, would be the need for two additional turnouts.

Would like to hear your comments.

Have a nice holiday

88 in Burbank for Thanksgiving and a nice desert breeze. We don’t live on the same planet!

Jose,

Your track plans and graphics are most inspiring. You have quite a talent.

Kinda fun watching this to see what he comes up with…

I agree Ken. Jose I love the new plan. and I really think it would make the reverse loops more interesting and opens up the real estate. Definitely more cost effective. If is the snow melt’s I might have to give this new plan a try.

Ron we got just under a foot at the house. Temps have not gone above freezing for the last few days.

Remember: It all turns to water at some point, so don’t shovel; just sit and wait!

A foot of sun doesn’t sound like much! guess it depends how long it stays there;)

sun snow its all the same lol… It gets a llot of sun during the winter but once the leaves are out I doubt I will get as much.

Not quite. Sun is that yellow, hot thing up in the sky, that we look forward to seeing in the morning. Snow, on the other hand, is that white cold stuff that lays on the ground, and no one looks forward to seeing at anytime, except for a few crazy people…

Ken, so I get pegged as crazy again. That’s ok, I am used to it by now.
