Large Scale Central

Bluestone Southern's Sept 2017 Ops session

Say its not so Stan and Deb running something that doesn’t burn coal.(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

Richard

Got my coal fix running steam with my son the previous week on the C&TS.

Deb and I were both honored to be included in Andy and Jane Clarke’s ops session. Truly an amazing railroad and a must-visit one. Very few railroads can pull off the feel of standard gauge railroading and clearly they have done it.

Attached are some photos that Deb took.

Stan

Great pics and great layout Told Andy that I’d like to see his layout some day and he asked if i was threatening him.(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif)

Andy

Sean, Bruce asked if he could build a building for me a few yeas ago… He built a beautiful looking factory, then asked what name for it… Told Him ““Chandlers furniture””… It sits in the Industrial park…

OK

Who is going to build the "Power Plant "

Tim the Tool man would need more space !

Cliff Jennings seams to be up for the challenge of “Build big, or go home.”

Maybe you could ask him. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

I have some cement board in the garage, not being used… Figure I’ll make the building from that… Have had a fatory out in the Industrial part made from it, that’s been out for quite a few years… Give me something to do for the winter…

Good stuff!

So it really did happen then!

See dad you are learning …the ladies like Amtrak!

What’s with those new big buildings? I must have missed you adding them?

Great looking RR!

Joe, not sure which new buildings you are talking about… The newest buildings this year are the elevator and warehouse located in the Freeman Spur town…

Most of the usual photographers for the Sept Ops session didn’t make this Ops, so pictures were few and far between.

Below are some of the shots taken:

Below are Dan and TMark working the Industrial Park.

Thanks for the reply. These 2 buildings I don’t remember seeing? I’m not sure I remember any buildings??? Getting old!

Looks like a trip to the Bluestone Southern is bucket list item for me. If I could ever coordinate it with a trip to Denver as a stop-over that would be cool. Where’s that Powerball ticket again?

Joe, The red building in the foreground is new this year… It’s actually designed to be a meat packing plant, located in the industrial park… The grey building to it’s left is a plastic product manufacturing Building… It’s been out for a few years…

The plastic plant is cement board construction using pressure treated wood deck balusters as an inside framework…

The meat packing plant is made from Colorado models Building sides and parts…

Jon, that’s what Stan and Deb did… Stopped by on their way back from Colorado, however they drove…

Great pics! The “Coal Train” really does look impressive.

Awesome pics! If I’d only knew that it never rains in Nashville! lol!!!

I would love to see a drone or overhead picture of that massive layout. and I would love to come see it in person one of these days

Working on that, but everyone know my “learning curve” is steep and has many switchbacks. The BS does show up on Google Earth. Search on Nashville, Illinois and go south down Illinois 127. Government spy satellites have been taking regular update photos. Not sure the reason, but I have opinions about the logic.

Yes, it does show up, but the photo IS a bit out of date - I’m sure Ric will get us a better picture “soon”. Missing are Freeman Spur, Memphis and the Power Plant, although you can see where Freeman Spur will be located.

Large layout is a bit of an understatement.
