Bandon Depot Pt.3 - finis - Jun 10

Sorry if this was covered earlier, but I’m wondering… How did you glue the window frames to the acrylic without getting smudges of glue on the “glass”? Also, do you have to do anything special to avoid “fogging” from the chemicals in the glue?

Thanks Dennis. You’re welcome to hang around the depot anytime. Bring your camera.
And…I pray you’re not in the flood zone back there. Keep well.

[b]Ray,[/b] I use the glue sparingly around the outer edges of the window only. Later when the trim is added glue is spread right up to the outside edges of the windows in effect gluing the trim to the windows as well as to the acrylic walls. This makes for one solid unit.

I have had no problem with glue fogging the windows except when I inadvertantly mess up. Which of course I never do…

Very nice Richard! It looks like a fine piece of furniture. Too bad it has to go outside. You are an inspiration to me.

Too bad it has to go outside? But that’s the right place for it. I’m sure that Richard will post an inspirational picture of it in place. Perhaps with the lights on. I took this one at Richard’s when I visited…

Seeing his buildings at eye level really makes you feel that you’re part of the railroad.

Many thanks for the kind comments Gary!

Nice photos guys. Good thing our security officer “Bus Bisby” was on duty those days and, as usual, too incompetent to find, let alone run off, the railfans.

Anyway I enjoyed your visits. Hopefully you’ll be able to come again and make the new Bandon depot look good with your fine photos.

yea, he did catch one old fart snappin away while I was there, but we run him off.

I am looking forward to the day I can re-visit the Port Orford Coast RR. I even still have my pass…

Richard…

I just ran across this on an RV forum… The Bandon Light.

Me thinks you need it

EDIT - Shoot, they don’t call it a JPG so I needed the IMG tags :o

Jon,

I’ve already got enough trouble. hehe! There’s a restaurant in Bandon that you can see that lighthouse from as you eat dinner. I’ve been to the Cape Blanco lighthouse (the one on my RR herald) but never walked out to get a closer look at that one. Kinda purty and unusual isn’t it?

You should wander out here to the Oregon coast and visit some of the lighthouses. Then incidently, since you’d be passing close by  , you could visit Port Orford’s only RR. I do have room to park your RV too.

We’d love to get up that way some day, but doubt the RV would come. I’d have to sell the house to pay for gas IF I could get enough vacation time to make the cross country trip
