Maybe. There are lots of old ties in western California, but shipping is not financially feasible.
You’re lucky to have a reunion to go to. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to attend one. Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Adams…they’re all gone now. No one left for me anymore.
BTW, used RR ties have been available around here for around $9.95 each. Pretty good condition too. The sellers are making a profit even with shipping to their stores. I’ve got over a hundred in direct earth contact as low retaining walls for at least 14 years and they’re still in good shape.
Two miles worth is a lot of money.
I have a few ties in our yard from about 30 years ago when one of the Cajon Pass railroads was replacing old ties. They just kinda ended up in the back of our Jeep!
