Bachmann 22.5 rolling stock enhancements

Ah, I missed the era part. You would probably want to go with a steel frame or frameless car then. The Bachman tank has some voids on the bottom that would need to be filled somehow, and it may be a bit to short as well. This is a narrow gauge frameless tank. The era is about right…

Thanks for your replies and the pics Jon. That conversion, to be honest, looks beyond my capabilities. There is also the possibility that I might sell the four tank cars later in the year and replace them with 1:29 ones. However one my ‘Annies’ needs some cars besides a couple of gonds and boxcars to haul. The posher ‘Annie’ hauls J&S passenger cars. lol

So this is what I did today, and it is believe it or not, an improvement. I fitted smaller (30mm.) Accucraft wheels in place of the Bachmann 32mm. ones and removed the truss rods. This has lowered the cars very slightly and improved the appearance plus by the removal of the truss rods makes handling the car easier. I think if I decide to retain the tank cars then I will remove the bolsters which held the truss rods in place and that should improve its looks even further.
