Large Scale Central

Aristo

Well I guess there was very little for folks to say about the Aristo Forum being ‘off line’ or gone. For many it might ‘gone but not forgotten’. However, it might just be that Jonathan is away and as the Forum is not the major factor in his life has not renewed the contract *. It is, more or less, a year since he took over the Forum reins.

  • Greg made a similar reference in an earlier post.

I did think of putting the video of the Monty Python ‘Dead Parrot’ in this post but I refrained as I believe it might get pulled. (http://www.cosgan.de/images/smilie/tiere/g040.gif)

If US$15 a foot reflects the current price for brass, you may want to insure your track. I remember when copper prices were high and people were stealing the railways telegraph wires. In the paper mill I worked in as a young man, the electricians tried to stuff their car trunks with the solid copper wire we were removing from an old building that was being refurbished. That was the stuff with a cloth coating that was strung between white porcelain insulators. Not much left of the cloth when we were removing it. The welders also liked to see that green flame when they were cutting up the old plumbing.

BTW: Insurance policies usually exclude “COLLECTIONS” unless you have a specific rider for them. I don’t know whether or not our large scale trains would fall under that category however.

I think $15/foot reflect only GenNext pricing, you can still get it for a heckova lot less used.

Vic, et al,

That was the point of my original post, that pricing is GenExt pricing only. I feel for Scott, he is taking the heat for his uncle’s actions. That said, I will support Scott when I can, but paying near twice for on one product is not the way I can afford to do it. Not to mention, at those prices he might be able to MANUFACTURE his product in this country. THAT I would support.

Bob C.

Heck, he might be able to manufacture it here for considerably less, if he put his mind to it.

I remember back when the new Gov’t mandated published price rule went in to protect the brick and mortar stores. We were worried, but ended up getting reduced prices during shows and sales. I predict a similar scenario once he has shown he can generate sales.

Heck his backers may want their old currency value… a Rock - Scott- the hard place.

This was posted on the Aristo Tribute Facebook site: For those who still use the Aristo Forum - it is currently down but is expected to be up and running again Friday or Saturday. Sorry if this is back on topic!

Wow back on topic. Thanks. Later RJD

It’s frightening!

Aristo used to make a re-railer, I guess it still works!

Seems to be back up now.

I hate to keep going on topic, but would someone please list the forum address? I lost it in conversions.

This link is to the Aristo Tribute pages on facebook. Not sure if you need to be a facebook member to see them. https://www.facebook.com/groups/45798374278/ The forum is here it appears to be up today. http://aristocraftforum.com/

Well, I was just lurking there, as I hadn’t been there for years and was curious… I think I killed it… It certainly died while I was there. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)Too many connections, the message said.

Yep up and running. Later RJD
