Mike,

One buys SS track because of the advantages, price is way down the list of considerations. Note: I haven’t bought any yet, but I’m also into DCC power  .

For me…price is always THE point of consideration. That is why I am one of the few running aluminum with track power.

Same here, which is why I also build my own turnouts.

See Ralph…we agree on something…

We really are not that far apart in our ideology, Ken. I think we start at the same place and both look to the same destination. We just sometimes take different routes in our efforts to reach that destination.

I always was the one to take the road less traveled. Used to drive my family nuts when we on vacation…

Well here I am dancing to a different drummer. Nothin’ new ! I use G gauge Gargraves stainless steel flex track which is rather nifty as it has no tie spikes or screws and comes in 37" lengths. Another plus, can be curved by hand, easily. They did for a short time make the track with plastic ties but now back to real wood. The ties are too close for narrow gauge so I removed half of them, they just slide off, and buy just 37" lengths rail and reuse the ties. Saving more loot ! One thing this track looks a lot better then brass and its about code 170 and a whole lot closer to the ground as far as height. I have a table top layout in the back yard and the only thing I noticed that the coloring on the wood ties have faded a slight bit. I found that anything can run on it with absolutely no problems as far as flange depth. I don’t know how this track would be with sparkies but it is great for live steam and of course the battery folks. Price is very good and I found a store that discounts 20% off list.
Your version might be different and probably is.
