Large Scale Central

Another useless post from Rooster

Sure are lots of photos showing the Chinese hand symbol for good luck! (Their bad omen uses the pinkie.)

Cheers, David Meashey

And we wonder why we can’t attract new young blood to our hobby. Encouraging inappropriate content to LSC most certainly not going to accomplish that goal.

True that it might be, it most certainly could have been left unsaid.

Amazed that a 4K views post is why this sight will not attract new blood :sunglasses:

Nice!!

Yay Bisquick!

Where was that last interior shot taken?

They were all taken here.

If you rip out the center bell crank and put in a large main driver put some 235/45/18’s on the front and rear you could have a modernized Pioneer ( with wisk brooms on all 4 corners). Seth Wilmarth had his stuff together back in the day in the hood. Sadly he was not considered a Pioneer as the CVRR called her.

How long ago were those pictures taken , your son has grown a bit since then!!!
Cool place where is it?

That would be the B&O Roundhouse Museum in Baltimore Md. Also known as Mount Clare Station. And often overlooked is the fact that it is a coach roundhouse built to service B&Os passenger car fleet in it’s day. Which is why more modern locomotives are stored outside and/or in an adjacent workshop building.

And there is an awesome recovery story associated with that museum. Quite a few years ago the round roof collapsed from a big snow storm. The roof structure and many museum pieces were heavily damaged. They managed to rebuild the roof structure (from steel, not brittle iron) and re-open the museum. I don’t know if all the damaged pieces have been restored yet, but last I heard they had made amazing progress on that front too.

Yeah, thanks Jon, huge and amazing comeback. They lost a couple pieces, but IIRC left them in a state of “arrested decay” to help tell the story of the collapse. That memory is a couple years stale, so I’m not sure about the display now.

ok, i’ll try again…

where might this be on the property?

Hollywood, i’d not heard that the roundhouse started as a coach facility, thanks. Very elaborate for that!
