Do the hoppers have a differing coupler then the reefers?
First 4 renumbered and weathered

Nice work Bob. Now load them up and make some money.
Looks great, an asset to your RR!
Alec.
Thanks. Amazing what a little weathering will do.
Here’s my collection of coal hoppers as of today. 8 AMS, and a lone Bachmann 2-bay.

Beautiful work!
Bob, that might keep the mine workers busy for a little while…
Nice looking coal hoppers…
Thanks guys. A quick misting of flat black before lettering, then a misting of tan to dust it up a bit, and some primer red inside for rust. Really makes a difference, for 5 minutes worth of work.
I still say they look better with a load of coal:

WAIT? Wheres the ditch lights on that consist?
I need to get some more coal chunks (anyone have a dealer nearby that sells individual bags of rice coal?), but these are good for a start

Removable, too!

Then you pop the load out!

Cool! Maybe a half-dozen fist-size chunks, or whatever that breaks down to? A gallon bucket’s worth I guess?
OK - I’ll try to remember to bring some along. Got lots of boney, not sure how much chunk coal is left.
