A Wasilla mom on Palin

Ralph, both my state and home town use “.gov.” and the City of Spokane uses “.org”, and, Son of a Gun (that a Naval term, don’t cha know…) the City of Wasilla, AK uses “.com.” However, the page that I was sent to after googling “City of Wasilla, AK” is significantly different than the one that I was sent to by Brian.

Go figure.

No, you are not in danger from Terry, don’t be silly. The worst he will do is blow a steam whistle under your bedroom window at 0200.

Mr. Featherkile

I believe that you are mistaken, Mr. Donavan did not provide you a link to the City of Wasilla, I did.

And while it’s true I didn’t provide a link that took you to the home page, the link I did provide was merely intended to save you some time in locating the information that I was referring to.

If you prefer…
Home Page > Questions & Answers Concerning Former Mayor Palin > Currently Available Information (section) > Document Central link (available within each area described) > City Documents - Recently Requested - Former Mayor Palin

Additionally, as an after thought as to why a city might choose to use the “.com” extension. While it may not have anything to do with the choice the City of Wasilla made on the “.com” extension. If you care to check, I believe that you’ll find that most (note, I refrain from using an absolute type of term e.g. ‘all’ since there are usually exceptions) cities are chartered as corporate entities under their respective state constitution’s and statute’s

Mr. Conkle

Take a deep breath.

The spirit of banter here is friendly, though you may have missed it. Think of old geezers who have known each other for life, sitting around the pot bellied stove at the General Store, waiting on the 10:15 on a cold winter’s night, to pick up the shipment for their business’ shelves for the next day. While they may have known each other since kindergarten, they often are on opposite sides politically, and use the time waiting on the 10:15 to enjoy some Holy Water, and each other’s company, and some good conversation.

So, pull up a chair, and join the fun…

As for finding out anything, the Wasilla local newspaper archives would be a better place to look.
I quite agree Ken, but at least this way you start with the official statement of record from the governmental body, and develop any conflicting information with supportive documentation. Which is the reason why I don't like statements that don't cite the original source.

To that end…

Mr. Foley.....Come on now. I don't see where anybody here has advocated anything violent, on either side of these arguments. My question to you is quite simple - do you vote in the United States Presidential election and am I in danger for posing the question?
Well, that's TWO questions, but then, maybe you're a closet politician and you only count the first one that you pose.

Nossir, I do not have that privilege, being one of those furriners that only spends a lot of time and a lot of money in the USA, although I’d like it to be different. I might even make it if Mr McCain gets in, but if Mr Obama does I won’t even bother to try. The very thought of being ‘ruled’ by an arab of any pursuasion, regardless what he may call himself now, is repugnant to me and most others of my pursuasion. The last guy who tried that was Nebuchadnezzar, and where is HE now? Apart from being a character in an opera, that is.

And of course you are not in any danger for asking the question - why on earth should you think that? I neither know, nor care, where you live. Your opinion on anything at all is no concern of mine either, providing it does not actually get up-close and personal.

Y’see, while opinions don’t actually hurt anybody, wholesale insinuations and innuendo could just be construed as character assassination…and some folks take that seriously.

As I noted in another thread, the McCain/Obama fight is very real to us over here who care about you, and is frankly not just your local/parochial fight anymore. For one thing, we have the future lives of almost 50,000 serving men and women to consider - that’s almost 1% of our whole population, BTW - apart from the possibility of a very real shift in foreign policy that will affect all of us who like to think that we are your friends.

But perhaps, you don’t need friends like us any more?

That’s right. The dithering old farts and us young liberal whippersnappers beat each other up with foam bats and then kiss and make up.

There we go again with that Arab BS.

Terry you need to read the rebuttals made to that accusation elsewhere on this forum.

Mr Donovan - What is it with you and this woman?

Did she piss in your coffee, or was it something even wusser? You seem to be a one-man band self-elected nemesis - a person that the FBI or the Secret Service might take a deal of interest in, fer’instance.

Mr Obama has some very strange ideas about the contents of the Constitution and his ‘flexible’ interpretation of its basic premises, but nowhere have I seen any of his detractors on this site - and I’ll admit that I’m one of them - stoop to the depths that you have plumbed in your attempts to bad-mouth her.

The accumulation of your posts and their content would give ME cause for concern if I were her, and there are still places in the world where you would have heard a knock on the front door by now.

So, my question is quite simple - are you all piss and wind, or do you and your like-minded buddies represent a real threat to the person of Mrs Palin?

Nothing personally against her. Don’t know much about her as most people. McCain picked her out of relative political obscurity to run to be the number two for the most powerful leadership position in the world. I’m just gathering info from several sources and sharing some of it. I’m sorry (not really though) if that offends you.
To you, Obama’s ideas are strange, to me they are progressive, rational and level headed. We obviously have different takes on the world.
I’m not sure why you singled me out as opposed to the many right wing slanted posts here but I guess I ruffle your feathers. The only threat I pose to Gov. Palin is wanting to be informed as much as possible before I walk into the voting booth. I have shared some of that info here to those who care to read it. I am royally pissed off at the way this country has been governed the past 7+ years but I’m hardly alone in that club. Your comment - “The accumulation of your posts and their content would give ME cause for concern if I were her, and there are still places in the world where you would have heard a knock on the front door by now.” suggests to me you have bought into the agenda of fear and paranoia of the right. My few posts here are nothing compared to what is out on the net. You choose to exercise your constitutional rights by owning deadly weapons, I choose to exercise mine by my freedom of speech.

-Brian

Mr Donovan - we will never agree except about the fact that we will never agree - you are too far away from me in time and space for that to happen.

Y’see, I personally feel that Mr Obama is potentially the biggest threat to the security of the USA and its friends world-wide that we have seen in generations. If he becomes president, I only hope and pray that I will be proven wrong, and you may say ‘I told you so’. So please feel free to call me paranoid - us Jews are pretty good at recognising problem people. You can’t say that we are inexperienced in doing so, and history has more often than not proven us correct.

Standing at the remove, as I am over here, may of us have detected at a very early stage that Mr Obama, whom you appear to believe in with few reservations, is not what you see, but what he has allowed to be seen.

And secondly, about ‘deadly weapons’. Your use of that phrase alone tells me a lot about you, but I don’t intend to get personal about it, unlike you and your petty remarks about ‘dithering old farts’. It’s called exercising my rights to own firearms, in spite of the difficulties imposed here in UK that would thwart me. I also own, by proxy, a load of firearms in the USA that I can’t have here. Why? Because that’s what free men can do in your country, by a few words on a piece of paper written around two hundred and thirty years ago. The Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

Mr Obama wants to take away that Right.

If you recall anything about your own recent history, you will note that the United States was born from the efforts of men using deadly weapons - I would have thought that a good ol’ All American boy would have known that, let alone a dithering old Irish Jew half a world away.

Terry, how about showing us some proof that Obama is an Arab?

tony, his middle name is HUSSEIN!!!

This “Obama is an Arab” stuff is just such a load of nonsense! But it keeps going and going, like a zombie.

Regarding the jews being good at recognizing problem people, I have many Jewish friends who support Obama–in fact, polls in the US suggest that most jewish Americans support Obama.

Palin’s religion may turn off may Jewish voters–her church, for example, recently invited the founder of “Jews for Jesus” to speak, and he told them that terrorist attacks on Israel were God’s punishment for the Jews’ failure to accept Jesus Christ

So says this israeli news source, which has video:

http://www.israelenews.com/view.asp?ID=3026

These are your friends?

Also where is the evidence that Obama wants to “take away the right to own guns?” I have not seen any evidence for this absurd claim. Many gun owners, such as myself, support the idea that the government has a right to regulate the sales of dangerous weapons. That’s not the same as “taking away the right to own guns.”

Hi Mike.
I do not wish to get involved in American domestic politics and neither should Terry.

The reason I said anything at all is because Terry is a Brit like me. He had baldly stated Obama is an Arab without offering any proof.
That had to be addressed and I felt I could because he and I are both Brits.

I can fully understand Terry loathing Moslems. I do too. But definitely not all Moslems are Arabs. As evidenced by the atrocities committed by ethnic Javanese Moslems against innocent Australian tourists in Bali.

Gotcha, Mr. Foley, I think I understand where your point of view is coming from.
