Large Scale Central

2017 Meteorological spring photo thread.

First run, March 25, 2017, to find the spots that need attention. I found quite a few, a testament to our hard winter. The last of the snow melted yesterday, on the Feather Creek Ranch.

Nice shots Steve. Always enjoy seeing pics of your layout. Looks like the railroad held up well. I still have a good 8 inches of snow still.

I have to say I like the carpet of pine needles. Ill take that over the leaves.

Looks nice Steve. Snow has just come off here too. I have some rail separations due to the cold that I have to fix before I can run. Hoping winter is finally starting to wane some. Now comes the wind…

My biggest problem was side to side level. I had 2 track joint problems, one that was empirically obvious to the most casual observer, and another that wasn’t. After leveling and re-leveling at least four times, I ran my hand across the joint. Yup, that’s the problem. I couldn’t see it with my eyes, only with my hand.

Our Rooster attacked me from behind while I was bent over, working the ballast. Big target, too big to pass up. I had a shovel at hand, swing and base hit, right into the lilac bush. The squawking and flapping as he extricated himself from the Bush was quite satisfying.

Yeh, I know about roosters. Ours found his way into stew. The hens don’t seem to miss his absence. Either do I.

LOL, Steve you funny.

Yeah, that was good. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Great photos, Ken. The new Porter Depot looks like it has always been there.

Great shots Ken. The last two days have been perfect.

What’s that? Do I see a powered boxcar on the railroad? Oh, the humanity…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Haha I know, but I had nothing to do with that. A 13 month old wears the pants in the house…

Love it.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Nice to see the boy has a U25

Here on the P&CS, spring rehab continues. I was glad when the rehab moved into the shade the other day.

Next up, bridge repair.

Had one nice day (Wednesday) to run a train and test out my new Climax on the layout. Still needs to be hooked up to battery. I also got to put my new switch in and test it out. So far everything runs through it.

The C.V.S.Ry. put together an inspection train together and ventured out for the first time since late fall. First stop was WALL whener a minor clean up of debris was required to pass…

Continuing on to Indian Hill Bridge. The bridge survived the winter still looking great (EDIT except for that piece of polystyrene that has de-laminated from the bottom that I just noticed)…

At Pine Summit we encountered a debris pile that will need more manpower to clear…

Then venturing further on foot we found Deep Cut loaded with wind-blown debris…

Backing down the hill, then taking the spur to we fould track clear to Northvile where snow shovels still stand in preparation for the spring snow we hope will never come…

Priceless…

Thanks Rooster.

So, is that your commentary about this thread, or just parts of it?

Gee ,umm , ok, Maynard …I thought I left the door open for you if you wish to add pics to this thread. There is more to my posts than most see.
