WOW! John, that tower look taller than the one at North Platte. I bet nothing will get past the guys who will work in there.

Thanks Chuck…I’ll like my yard a lot better if I can get all those Gargraves turnouts working smoothly! Should be real interesting.

Thanks Alan, I may have gotten a little carried away to say the least with the height of the tower! I have to take it off and straighten it up so I might cut a couple of inches off while I’m doing that.
Well I got the door temporarily positioned…it fits perfectly! I cut the door by heating up a utility knife to red hot, then sliced through the material to cut out what will be my upper window. I tried to cut with the dremel disk but it was obvious all I was going to do it tear up Dave’s nice door.
Since I had to remove and reposition the tower, I took the opportunity to seriously cut down on the height; it looks much more in proportion to me now.
I am ALMOST finished I think. Oh boy.
The last picture is a close-up of my youngest son’s creation, which he put together on the workbench across from me while I worked a few days ago. He’s a wizard with the hot glue gun and the utility knife, very good at salvaging materials too! It took him about an hour.
So far I spent $9.98 and another $6.68 in scale lumber at Caboose Hobbies. I also spent $6.50 on thick magic glue, or super glue I should say. I don’t know if that counts or not.
I like that tall, skinny tower.
I’m getting entirely too much enjoyment out of doing this project! I decided to go for some lighting, however being a zero when it comes to lights and electricity (I tried Christmas lights on a battery for this…fail!!), I resorted to the Dollar Store, as pictured below. I’m into this projects for another $4.40 only, because I already had the blue flashlight laying around.
I may eventually buy some of these kits, which would make it possible for me to light things without knowing how to wire or do resistors or anything else: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Led-Smd-Caboose-lighting-6-x-2-x-4-One-color-and-two-Solid-Red-Tail-Lights-/121273589202?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1c3c781dd2
Here’s the lights, and the second picture is the warehouse lit by the flashlight concealed in the back end wall.

Oh no…I should have been asleep two hours ago! But I couldn’t help myself. I finally got everything FINISHED, project finished, mission accomplished, yes, and the lights are in!
These pictures show the lights much MUCH brighter than they actually are, but I don’t know how to adjust for that with the camera, but I am so happy to be finished. I enjoyed this so much, and got so much inspiration and motivation from everybody. I’ve been following all the other builds as much as time permits and I didn’t want to fall way short by comparison!!
I don’t know exactly what I spent, but it was less than $20 I’m sure. In putting together this build I ended up going through lots and lots of boxes of all kinds of spare detail parts, and I had no idea of all the stuff I had laying around, I’ve forgotten most of it. Plus I cannibalized some extra cars, especially the interiors. I have a ramp for the back deck, but I didn’t install it because it would have put me over the 90 scale feet limit.
As I understand it, we are posting final pictures in a separate heading? I hope I can take better pictures; handling a camera isn’t one of my big talents. I included two pictures below with different settings on the camera.
Thanks for all your encouragement and kind comments. I second the comments of a couple of the other builders…I can’t wait to start another structure project for my freight yard. Maybe in the next few weeks I hope.
Love all the details you placed in the office for the “Grand Finale” photos. They are really neat.
