It is not a “Moon Dance”…
…it is a SUN DANCE, which occurs at midnight, on the day of the full moon.
The dance is held to appease the Storm Gods, who take that night off from their responsibilities. The idea is to provide some humour by providing comic relief, by dancing in the nude, under the full moon.
The Storm Gods, usually, appreciate the fun, and provide at least several weeks of good weather, for the annual Invasion of Friends, in return for the humour…of some old fool out there in the nude, jumping around a table mumbling under his breath, because he stepped on a Spruce needle or two, and is in great pain…pass the Whisky (Holy Water)…it’s needed at that point…!!!
