Large Scale Central

1:17n30

Hi Dwayne -
Nice choice of prototype - lots of character.
Your styrene work is great. It’s crisp and clean.
17n30? Hey, whatever works for you!!! IMHO, that’s certainly close enough to 1:16 to allow the use of some nice figures and vehicles.

Hey Bill, nice to see here. Yeah, 17n30. Between your SE and most everyone elses 1:20n3.

Welcome Bill

My recent job change put a slow down on my play time so work on my lokie came to a stop for the past month. However, with the job change came the need for a place of my own to stay as I’m not on the road three to four weeks at a stretch. A small apartment filled that requirement until my wife get’s down here from Canada (the US immigration process is @#%€£¥ slow and FUBAR’d)…

Anywayz, a friend is sending me a bunch of salvaged Aristo brass rail he inherited. He stripped it from the plastic ties at my request. My plan is to construct a small, modular, shelf switching layout on handlaid track to run my little lokies on until that glorious day in the future when my wife and I finally settle down on my five acres (if the @#%€£¥ gov’t can ever pull their head out of their €£¥%# backside) and allow her to come to the US.

Stay tuned…

PS: amazingly Americans trust gov’t to take care of healthcare when it can’t even process immigration paperwork in less than a year…

Good luck to yer Missus Dwayne.
Will want to see your layout.

Trying to get into this country? Sorry, but the second you got a job and spoke English you screwed yourself, mate.

And tell us how you really feel!

Just kidding and understand fully.

I think your switching shelf is a great solution to getting up and running. And what a great place to hand lay track.

Dwayne - I have a bunch of white metal castings for building a little lokie like that, including axle boxes that look just like those, link & pin-type couplers, controls, pilot beam weights and gauges and so on.

If you PM me your address I’ll ship them over to you.

It’s frustrating to say the least. We’ve been married six years and if not for us deciding to see her daughter through high school and off to college because of custody issues with my wife’s ex, we’d have started this process years ago. Eventually it’ll all work out.

I’m hoping to finish my lokie soon then start cobbling a shelf layout of some sort.

Since I have the weekend off I decided to test out my lokie running on RC. I’m using a Losi ESC powered by 4AA batteries. The video in the link below shows the first run across the kitchen floor.

Now all I need to do is install the gear permanently.

looks good even without track

Thanks Dave.

I spent several hours today installing the RC components in my lokie. Video in link below running across the carpet.

Now all I have to do is detail this little engine and get it painted. Then build a small switching shelf layout for it to play on.

I decided to take a break from my lokie conversion and get started on a long put off project… assembling my Accucraft Ruby kit. I’ve had it for nearly a year but lacked the time to get 'er done. Anywayz, here are a few quick iPhone picks. I’ve got about three dozen pics on my digital SLR but won’t bore ya’ll with them.

Last shot shows the boiler sitting loosely on the frame with the assembled cab even though I still need to do the air test but without an air supply it’ll have to wait. Behind Ruby is Ida which I bought ready to run. Both engines will eventually get new 1:17 scale cabs. Then someday I might actually get around to getting these girl’s fires going.

Did you get the stuff yet?

Very cool

Tac, package arrived. Sent you an email thanking you but with the recent internet happenings because of Wikileaks wasn’t sure you got it. Again, thanks.

K.

Glad the stuff was of some use to you.
