Matching USA trains Overton cars

I’m looking for some thoughts as to what locomotives would look appropriate with the USA trains Overton passenger cars. Thanks

Given that the prototypes were used by the Sierra Railway, anything similar to what they used as locomotives would be appropriate.

A few images of the prototype cars;

"Sierra Railway combination
car No. 5 and coach No. 6
W. L. Holman, San Francisco, 1902 (<-- note build date)
Built for the Angels Branch
No. 5 Gift August 1982 of Sierra R.R.
No. 6 Purchased December 1979 from Pacific Coast Chapter, R&LHS

Shorty combination car No. 5 and coach No. 6 were built specifically for use on the tight curves and switchbacks of the Angels Branch, running through the deep Stanislaus River canyon between Jamestown and Angels Camp. After the branch line was abandoned in 1935, No. 5 was used as a caboose until 1955, while No. 6 was traded to the Hetch Hetchy RR. Both are now returned to their original home at Railtown 1897,
where they see occasional service in movie trains."

They might look good behind Bachman’s c19

I think a C-19 would overpower them. The Aristo C-16 is 1:24th scale and thus the same as the coaches.

I run an LGB 2017 and I like the proportions. Here’s a short video of the 2017 pulling a mixed train.

Oh Dan, nice video. I think that would work well. Now I’m looking for a 2017. Thanks for help

Look at what just showed up!

The Bachmann 2-8-0 Is way too large for Sierra cars. The Accucraft 1:20.3 passenger cars fit nice with that one.

I had a set of Sierra cars and they looked really good behind an LGB Mogul, an Aristo C-16, even an 0-4-0 if you are just pulling 2 or 3 of them.

IMHO…

LGB mogul.

The Sierra cars are 1:24 scale, as are the Delton/Heartland cars, although the Sierra cars are much shorter. I don’t have the Sierra cars, but I do have the Delton/Heartland cars and here is a picture of them behind an LGB Mogul.

So I would have to agree that the LGB Mogul, or the Aristo/Delton c16 would be a better fit then a 1:20.3 locomotive.
