New Steamers on BREXIT $$ exchange rate

I spent some UK cash on a couple of great deals from the UK.

This is a Regner “Otto” - now out of production I believe. [And talk about inclines in that other thread - this thing has 2 layshafts, 2 sets of spur gears and a chain. I reckon all 3 gears are 2:1, so it is at least an 1:8 gearing. Certainly runs sloooow.]

I also found an Accucraft “Sea Lion”, which I thought were all sold out in the US. Tiny little 7/8n2 engine - smaller than the Regner “Lumberjack” which my pal Jerry acquired.!

So, how do we connect up with such deals, or dealers?

Link or search hint please:-)

Were these new or used?

I have $US only.

Don, my good friends John Bowles and Neil Hay at Trackshack on the Isle of Man are your friends here [and mine] - we have been dealing with them for many years].

The prices for absolutely EVERYTHING are the best around the UK, even though the Trackshack store is not actually IN the UK. The IoM is a crown dependency with their own parliament, taxes, finances, laws etc, and operate totally independently of the mainland.

So instantly, everything is going to be 20% cheaper than the mainland…no UK VAT/HST y’see…

Tell him I sent you.

Congratulations on your new acquisitions tac! Very handsome looking locos. I had not seen the Sea Lion before, and quite like it. You’re correct it does look dainty. Have you had a chance to run it yet? How is the speed and pulling power?

Always exciting to add new locos to the engine shed.

A great buy Pete, You will love Otto. It is so powerful and maintains speed up or down grades. I like the look of the sea Lion, Humm…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Not mine, Sir, but Mr Thornton’s!

I’m too poor to buy A loco, let alone two at a time…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

As TAC said, Track-Shack is a good place to start. They claim there are more “Sea Lion” locos in stock at Accu’s UK warehouse.

The BREXIT deal works like this. Loco (Sea Lion): £829.1, 2 x (coach) kits = £131.66, 1 x (Bachmann Europe) loco staff = £15.46, Shipping £116.46, Total to pay £1092.75 GBP. That’s $1,435 today, delivered Fedex on my doorstep about 4 days later. For comparison, I believe the US price for Sea Lion was $1,450 - without coaches or figures ?

My Regner Otto came from Garden Railways Limited, (not to be confused with Garden Railway Specialists.) (I got the last Otto, sorry.)

http://www.gardenrailways.co.uk/ Graham is a pleasure to do business with, and he accepts Paypal and credit cards.

I often phone them using Skype, which is essentially free. Just remember they are 5 hours ahead.

Just tac, no capitals, please. I’m a person, not a NATO acronym. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

Oops! sorry Pete, I didn’t mean to be transferring ownership of your fine new acquisitions. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-embarassed.gif)Those should travel easier than some of your other equipment.

tac, I’ll see if we can find some grant money for your railroad…
