New roof on old covered bridge (pictures!)

Near the first of the year there was a slight mishap in the workshop and the removable roof to my covered railroad bridge took a plunge off the bench to the rather unforgiving concrete floor and the results, while spectacular (wish I had a slow motion video) was a total loss.

There is what it looked like just after creation in 2011.

Before

So a new roof was needed. The first was a study in dilapidated neglect, with just a hint of shingles left clinging to the abandoned structure.

The new roof was made much beefier to survive short drops (should it ever happen again) and I decided to see what it looked like with a full load of shingles.

Here is the new and improved (if you judge by weight) version:

After

Side walls are the same although the location of the trestle has moved from back yard to front.

Details on the construction here (and as always comments and advice are welcome):

Very nice roof, The new boards on the siding looks very authentic .

Looks great

Personally, I love it. But, I’m not so sure that the terrified “B” movie guy on the back of the coach car roof does though!!!

Nice job, TJ.

Beautiful!

Everyone,

Thanks for the feedback! The " terrified “B” movie guy" is only terrified because the train has busted through the warning barrier and is about to plunge off the the trestle !

Here’s the view from another angle…
