Large Scale Central

7/8" scale hand car

I have been having some fun in the shop…building a little hand car using some of the skills learned last year during the Mik’s challange…

That’s purty neet!

Where’s the battery? Inside the barrel?..(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

I have a 9 volt battery hidden between the frames under the deck with a spring clip holding it in place

Incredible! And so elegant in it’s simplicity!

Eric, Way Cool!!! But, I am hereby certifying that this handcar build CAN NOT Qualify for Mik’s Build Challenge 2016.

Either you have even a better idea for the challenge, or you just waisted a really cool build.

Dog gone it! I don’t have a calendar!

Really this is for the swap on the seven eighth scale forum. I gotta build myself one cause it is pretty fun to have on the line.

Well done Eric, I think if you put them up for sale you would be rich in know time. Put me down for one.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Eric, that is horrible, I mean really, really bad. You should be embarrassed to have produced that. If you want I can help you by having you send it to me and I will dispose of it for you(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-innocent.gif)

@Devon Shame on you… Do you really, really want that oversized Monster on your little scale layout… Remember it’s 7/8 scale. It’s kinda like comparing G to O scales, It’s not large it’s huge…

So if no one on the 7/8 forum really wants it, Don’t send it to poor Devon, I’ll take it off your hands.

Wonderful!

Welllllll. . . I haven’t actually built anything yet for the indoor layout. . . so a 7/8 scale could still work. . . Naw I stick with 1:20.

I love the building at 3:09

Eric,

That’s terrific. Great work! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

Awesome!

Great creation and animation!

Excellent !!!

Great little (big) build.

I’m using one of those motor/gearboxes on a speeder build…

Well I sent that hand car off to California as part of the 2015 swap…hope it arrived…now I needed a hand car for operations around here!

I have made another and it runs, and it looks as good as the “original”

The following are a bunch of photos of the project:

wheels cut on my CNC Milling machine slow but cool!

the wheel sets assembled onto the frame. the red part is sawn from plywood, the new wood is white oak.

brass escutcheon pins to hold stuff together…a bit of square tubing looks like a nut (not shown)

actually the first hand car:

Alcohol and india ink…black with a little brown added:

The Crew is made from maple this time

“some” time spent with a sharp knife and chisels

A lower arm
