Weight of an H-L-W Woody ?

I offered to mail a Hartland pickup truck, the smallest in their “Woody” series, to a gent in Australia. Anyone know how much it weighs, so I can calculate postage?

Why don’t you just put it on a scale and weigh it? (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)

Be sure to weight it with the box and packing materials, they also count when shipping.

Joe, if I had a scale I would have weighed it. I’m in my winter condo in Florida, and the previous resident didn’t leave us a scale. And H-L-W don’t have the info on their website and haven’t replied to my query (yet.)

If no-one has the info at their fingertips, I’ll make yet another trip to the P.O. and have them weight the package. I just thought you guys were so knowledgeable and no trivial question would go unanswered . .

and no trivial question would go unanswered . .

But, you did get an answer.

No, I got questions and advice instead !

H-L-W said it’s about 5 lbs.

Pete,

Why didn’t you mention up front that you had no way to weigh it? You might have gotten a different answer.

Joe, ah…isn’t that implied by asking the question in the first place? I mean, if he had a way to weight it, why would he ask? I am just saying.

David,

Don’t ASSume anything. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Joe, I didn’t assume, I deduced. There is a difference, sometimes a very subtle difference, but still a difference.

OK then. That’s different. Deduce away! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

I have one but its buried in the garage, I’m pretty certain that it weighs less than five pounds but that sounds reasonable for a packaged box.

I’m staying out of this - didn’t want to embarass anyone.

I agree - it is nearer 3 lbs compared with the jar of marinara sauce that the wife produced.

One thing that you can do is box it up and after Xmas, take it to the post office or UPS and have them tell you what’s the shipping cost.

If you are shipping it to Australia, I would probably put more packaging “in” to protect it more than just across the US.

I guess if you had gotten your answer as you wanted, you would still have had to estimate the weight of the packaging.

I don’t know much about shipping rates to Australia, but making the wrong estimate would probably be a costly enough mistake that you would want to weigh the finished package, so as not to shortchange yourself.

I would probably have asked for “shipping weight in the box”…

Gee, you guys can deduce anything! I actually took it to the P.O. and they quoted $35.50 to Australia. It’s in a 14x12x6 box at present, which is much bigger than needed. I can probably cut the box down to 7x12c6 easily and save a couple of $$, if the owner wants me to.

The thing isn’t mine [definitely not EBT in 1:20]. I’m doing it as a favor to a guy in Oz who desperately wanted it (Facebook G-scale swap-and-shop) but the seller refused to ship it overseas. The owner had it shipped to me and is paying for shipment onwards. I’m just trying to save him a few $$.

Yea, I had a heck of a time getting something shipped FROM Australia. I though $55 AU was a bit much, but you are saying $53.50 US, so I guess it wasn’t really too much.

I wouldn’t skimp on the body,in fact I would overstuff it with bubble wrap to assure a safe delivery.
