Winter Modeling?

The garden is full of snow. How shall I spend my idle hours?

Travel to South Pasadena and volunteer building their Tournament of Roses float!

Me working on Step 2: Chicken wire over the welded rod frame.

Step 3: Old sheets over the chicken wire.

Step 4: Spray foam. Must be thick enough to push water viles into, about 8". Each individual rose has it’s own water vile.

Every inch of the float must be covered in plant material. The non-perishable stuff gets glued on well in advance.

My wife, Cathy, at work.

Two days before the parade the ‘live’ flowers go on.

HS students sign up and volunteer to get school “Community Service” credit.

South Pasadena is only one of two floats that uses all volunteer help to build it. The last week before the parade is ‘crunch’ time.

That’s fun. I have been to the parade.

How much fun to be a part of such creations. Have fun.

Boy that’s a lot of hog clips!
