Thinking of installing Kadee body mounts on my Aristo Streamline Passenger cars. The motive power are two Aristo FA1’s. My minimum curve is 8’ dia. Is this a good idea or not?
8 foot diameter, long coaches and body mounts. I am not sure. I truck mounted mine, and shortened the mount so the cars are nearly touching on my 9.5 and 10 foot curves. There is a lot of overhang on those cars on my curves, and I am not sure body mounts would deflect enough to ride through that.
To do a check you could buy one pair and put one coupler on each of two different cars and try them on a turn . I have used that system on some sharper curves with shorter cars. I like body mounts, because they work better backing up .
Body mounts should be fine on those coaches. There’s a new pivoting shim I’ve seen on one member’s cars, or you can snip about 1/8 inch off the sides of the coupler pocket to give more swing.
Body mounts are good enough for the Santa Fe, so they’re good enough for me.
