Flex Track Assembly Jig

I needed a flex track assembly jig. So where can I find one for AMS code 250 track and ties?

I couldn’t find one so I had to make it. I got the idea from Bob Hyman’s turnout jig. Thanks Bob!

Assembling flex track by hand is not fun. The rails I have are 8’ long

Kind of went overkill on the T-Slot size, but it works great.

The angled (dirty) pieces that set on top of the ties are legs from some shelving.

The end profile is perfect for clamping the ties. They are a little short so I feed from the unclamped end.

I had SWMBO time me from start to finish. I was taking my sweet time and completed one in 7 minutes.

I don’t use any silicone lube when sliding the rails in. It’s that easy.

When all the flex track is finished I can use half of the jig for a turnout jig. Thanks again Bob!

Interesting, thanks, Jim.

Mine ain’t quite that sophisticated. Just the board the rail comes shipped with and upside down used ties strips…and WD-40 sprayed on the rail ends…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
