Anyone looking for trees for their garden?

I have been in contact with this nursery and have been very helpful with looking for suitable trees for a garden railway. I am going to wait until the heat drops down a bit to ship to NJ for better travel but I know I will be happy.

The 1 gallon size is on average 2’ tall.

Miniforest by Skye is another good source for GR plants. I ordered a bunch of stuff from them in the spring and what the rabbits didn’t get to is all doing great.

Both have good seletions though in coparison of trees way out there on prices for equivalent sizes of 1 gallon pots.

Shipping in 1 gallon pots is gonna be pretty exorbitant, especially all the way from Oregon.

About 35.00 for 6 - 1 gallon trees To me thats not bad at all.

Everything that I ordered came as bare root stock so the shipping price was a lot less since most of the weight for shipping was eliminated. I haven’t had the experience of ordering anything in that size, since there are a few garden centers around me that handle quite a few different miniature varieties of plant stock that come from wholesale nursery’s in Oregon.

Ken,
I forget what that one tree was you had(we discussed it) but it was pretty neat!..Actually you had a lot of neat and different plants on your RR

I’ve had good luck with some volunteer cedars that started growing in my layout. I keep them trimmed down, sort of a lodgepole pine look to them. I have cedars in my windbreak, so guess that’s where they came from. I have a elm with small leaves I moved into the RR, it’s still alive, may prune it some next year and see how that works out. Kidman’s brings some trees to Marty’s, if you are coming you could contact them. I’ve had good luck with their dwarf evergreens(smaller than Alberta’s) and a little bush(that the rabbits ate down to the ground this winter!)
