Large Scale Central

Yes! Putting your model railroading scenery building to use...

Beautiful, John!!!

Beautiful piece of art! Amazing!

That came out great! Foam can be huge PITA to adhere together I know from experience. I use the Insta-Grab but I also use wood dowels, long screws, and cut up wire coat hangers formed into hooks to tie everything together. The best part of your solution is that with foam it’s far safer with people walking under it. That lava rock sculpture could really hurt someone if it broke up again from age or damage. Foam? If it gets damaged, break out the paint.

Too cool! Thanks for the follow up - and I like that at least some of the “vegetation” got to hang around. BTW, it looks a LOT better than the lava…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

Looks great in place. Nice work!

Just saw this thread and wanted to echo all th “so cool!!!” Comments

Great job!

Awesome work, John. The final installation looks great, much better than the lava rock which I assume was supposed to represent all the volcanoes in Colorado (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif). Thanks for sharing this project.

Turned out real nice, and I agree that would have been funny to see, especially since it looks so real. I see they let you use the vegetation, good thing, the rams look at home on that ledge.

Thanks guys…unfortunately, the vegetation lasted about 42 and one-half seconds after our truck left the parking lot. I found out later the gal who was in charge of design for the alumni center had a tall ladder (usually reserved for “feeding” [cleaned up version!] the giraffes at the local zoo, ha!) waiting in the wings to remove the offending vegetation. It’s okay though.

I guess being under the weather last winter caused me to miss this. So just caught up. Way cool. And the new rock looks miles better than lava rock.

Terrific!
