SSL Certificate

Ah HA! Its people’s images in their signature… they are http not https, so the browser lets you know that there is insecure content on the page.

So, I went to my profile that has my mugshot on it, and I still had three green lock. Hmmmmm.

Mugshot is Avatar, and it’s uploaded to the site, so “within” the LSC “umbrella”

BUT your picture in your signature is not secure… if you edit your signature: http://media.altusinternet.com/marketplace/images/65CCA158-2FAC-47BA-AAB3F0B56F793A221.jpg

to https://media.altusinternet.com/marketplace/images/65CCA158-2FAC-47BA-AAB3F0B56F793A221.jpg that should help.

oops… just tested it, that site does not either have a certificate or the certificate is bad… don’t bother to try to change it, it needs to be on a secure site in the first place… like my site ha ha!

What’s wrong with being insecure?

I know you are trying to inject humor… this is a complicated subject and I’m focused on the technical issues… sorry!

Greg

Funny that notice should show up right there and then (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Yep, the white pine picture steve uses is not from a secure site.

Greg

Question for Greg, or maybe Bob if this is more LSC site related -

I host all my pictures at my webspace provider in the sub-domain lsc.cvsry.com. They offer a free certificate for the TLD, but if I want the sub-domains covered I need to buy that. Cost wasn’t available this evening as they are having website problems. If it is affordable I’ll add it. Once that is done, do I need to edit every post and update the photo path to include https: or will the photos take care of themselves? On new posts I would automatically use the https: form of the pictrure URL.

I think you would have to change the links in the original posts, not worth the effort in my opinion…

yep, looks like you cannot just tack https:// on in front of your web links. Getting threads to all be secure is nice, but really the only important thing is that you have a green padlock whenever you are entering a password or sensitive information.

I went through my entire web site, and did the best I could, and surprisingly, most of the external links I have in the 750 pages could go to secure…

Greg

Just changed my address in favourites to https://www.largescalecentral.com/members/home but do not get a green padlock only a white one.

Have I done something wrong?

What web browser are you using? I know I used to get black padlocks on Firefox years ago. Its only been recently that they started coming in green.

Microsoft Edge which came with WIN10.

I did click on the white padlock and got a message from Comodo the connection is encrypted so most probably all OK.

Regarding Firefox I use it on my train computer which runs on Linux and I keep getting messages that tell me the sites are not safe. I heard on the grape vine that is a Firefox issue after they did an upgrade.

Yea, its a message, that I ignore, that I see now, after the latest “upgrade”. Them darn programmers just like to keep piling on more and more features, instead of just fixing the known “extra features” they already have.

“extra features”, A.K.A. Bugs.

Not FF on windows… it is working… if you are on windows, you need to be on 56… although it is still having teething pains with Adobe Flash, but that will be gone soon.

You guys must be talking about Linux or Android or Mac, not FF on Windows.

Greg

I personally find this thread a total oxymoron considering the discussion we had on “nicknames” especially ones that were given to some guys like David Russell buy the LSC crew.

Let it go, TALK TRAINS and “APPRECIATE” what has been given to us !

Book Of Rooster: Chapter 13 verse 69 …Always check your pants for pens before putting them into the dryer.

This post has been edited and re-edited numerous times by :ROOSTER then re edited again after I looked like a ass what I originally posted because I didn’t want to conta-dick myself.

Rooster, we are learning stuff here, so what is your problem? If you don’t like the thread, even after being allowed to keep your nickname, I guess you are too hard to please!

It’s cool you don’t care, but I have not heard that anyone is holding a pistol to your head and forcing you to read it.

But there’s no arguments going on, so “let it go” really makes no sense.

Also we DO appreciate the site. I would think that Bob’s active involvement means he appreciates it too.

I don’t get your comments.

Greg

Do you get this comment Greg …Hush and let the forum flow ?

Ding! Time. Corners please.

After a couple of months of having SSL enabled, it looks like its done a lot to screw up both photos and videos.

That’s progress for ya…don’t you love it?

It just appears to be a little different than what we’re used to.

It’s a little more involved to post them.

We went through the same thing on the last change-over…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
