Reputation points

I notice the ‘reputation’ is now text instead of points.

Pete yea. I didn’t like it at first, but now I like it. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

I’d dearly like to see the daily stats for the web page. How many “Hits” per day, and how many different people made contact, or took part in the forums. Also, the per day use of the Chat.

As a person that used to use the Chat on a regular basis; I get the feeling that it is getting slower lately in use.

Generally I think the general use of the web page is slowing…PLEASE prove me wrong.

With the gradual start to the North American Summer; I would think that more people would have more to chat about, and more to contribute to the forums…

I’ve been doing a major rewrite of the reputation system, incorporating feedback from various people. You no longer have access to your absolute number. Your rating is one of “Well Respected”, “Respected”, “Mixed”, “Not Respected”, or “Inappropriate”, based on your good/bad reputation ratio.

I’ve also added expiring of bad reputation over 30 days old. You will keep your good reputation, so lapses of judgement don’t haunt you forever. I really want to encourage good behavior.

It turns out that the members that most loudly proclaim that bad reputation points don’t bother them are the ones most bothered by bad reputation points, if my emails are any indicator. That said, I’m pondering a one-time-only total reset of reputation points. Opinons?

You messed with my reputation points after I politely asked you not to,too,two,2 on the forums! I went from “Not respected” to “Mixed” and this is upsetting to me!

Please delete my entire account! I mean everything BD “train porn” and all!

EDIT: I blame “Maynard” for digging this thread back up!

EDIT:…WAIT…BD has user accessible e-mail address ¿¿

edit :because I wanted to use the “EDIT” feature only on LSC

Don’t be messing with my points bro! I like my status just how it is!!

Ah, I dug it up only to answer a question. As per another thread about going into the basement and digging in the archives for an answer to questions.

No matter how much you try Rooster you will never be disrespectable here. . .(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Devon have you ever met Rooster in person? I have, and its a very memorable experience…

I especially like Rooster’s new picture. It captures his essence.

Rooster… Did you get a haircut? You look different somehow.

No never had the “pleasure?”.

Ah, Rooster is a cool guy. Don’t let all the hype fool you.

Edit, because my computer wasn’t paying attention and left out a word I typed. Well, I think I typed it.

This whole “Reputation” thing is disturbing and upsetting to say the least! I have sent several unanswered e-mail’s (with no response ) . I would like to understand how one comes from “Not Respected” to " Respected" . I’m thinking threads that end up in Purgatory are where they sit until you get “Mixed”!

I would also know how one reaches the “Inappropriate” level.

Two enter returns for the proper paragraph spacing.

Edit: as I blame Bart,Gary and Boomer this time !

It must be the ratio (not the absolute number) of negative to positive.

Also, the negative points do not expire, since I was well respected, then went down and up a bit, but you get notified if someone “votes” a reputation point.

Since I’ve received no such points in a while, it would stand to reason that I (and everyone for that matter) would be going back to well respected if we don’t receive any points.

Greg

Rooster and Greg, I respect both of Yunz, no matter what the board says. And if you remember, it was those people who are “well respected” that drove the one member off the boards. Or is he back, or is he gone again…

Fred,

One problem I have with Chat and the reason i have not frequented it is I seem to be one of just a small number of left coasters that participate. By the time I get on there everyone has said their good nights; and that is at 7:30. So I have basically quit trying to catch the old people from the other side who go to bed at 7:00 . . .my time.
