believe me, any state other than Hawaii or Florida feels cold to us Californians… we are temperature wimps

Greg,

I live in northern Florida. Yesterday it never got out of the 40’sºF. Brrrrrrrrrrr! It was 46ºF in Livermore CA this morning where one of my sons lives.

Get on a plane and fly into Albuquerque… we will road trip it from here.

Greg, if you’ve not done so already…

You might seriously consider travelling out here one year. So much RR stuff to see, like the just astounding PA RR museum, and down in Baltimore the wonderful B&O museum. That’s just scratching the surface. So maybe some year, take a week to get some of those highlights, meet up with some buddies, and cap it off with the show and the D&B. And more show.

But bring a sweater… it’s trending on the chilly side then.

Also don’t forget the B&O Railroad’s station, built in 1830, in Ellicott City, MD. It’s the oldest surviving railroad station in America, and the site of the original terminus of the first 13 miles of commercial track ever constructed in America. Believe it or not, the first railway cars there were pulled by horse. Check out their Website: http://www.ellicottcity.net/tourism/attractions/bo_railroad_museums_ellicott_city_station

Roger all that Tom, and then there’s Thomas Viaduct…

Oh yes, Greg…don’t be misled by all these “Eastern Americans”…there is still one heck of a lot of RAILROADING, just across the border from Upper New York State, in Ontario, and Quebec, Canada.

If you haven’t ever been properly introduced to the CN, and CPR lines, between Montreal and Toronto, then you haven’t seen anything yet, with ViaRail Canada, thrown in as icing on the cake.

We still welcome, even people from the US Left Coast, into Canada, even “Giving” them an automatic 30% value on each of their dollars. If you extended your exploration, we could even let you meet your old friend, Paul Norton…but not for too long…after 45 minutes we charge big bucks for that introduction !! (No, do not come looking for ice, or ski hills, after the 24th of May…!!)

Roger all that, Fred. Speaking as a native Californian.

And Greg, don’t be misled by those Really-Northern Americans…
