Do others wish for more diesel detailing parts?

How many leds in the beacon Eric?

Greg

Greg I used 4 warm white 0603 SMD LEDs. I placed the LEDs around a tube extender that came with a bottle of Jet super glue. To tint the clear lens I used Tamiya clear orange.

Could FUD prints be “clear enough” for LED’s to work as a beacon? Never have tried but would be interesting to see.

Not sure Craig. I think you would have to polish it a little to make it look good as a beacon.

Chris

i have used legos. world pretty well

My ultra high definition 3D printer uses crystal clear plastic. The leds can be mounted inside the body. I recently made a beacon in 2 pieces for HO. The light travels up through the ‘light pipe’ and out the lens of the beacon.

If someone has good photos & some dimensions. I could give it a try.

Gilbert,

I personally am aware of your excellent products you offer. Perhaps others are not and they will get lost in this thread. You should contact the site administrator and list yourself as vendor …http://www.largescalecentral.com/forums/category/6/vendors-and-manufacturers

Just throwing this out as food for thought, but if there’s some part you’re needing, and you’re able to draw it for 3d printing, it might be possible for me to make them in brass for a reasonable price. I’m doing my own mold making & wax injection here now, & sending the waxes off for investment casting, which has cut out a lot of overhead for me.

Burl,

You should list yourself as well …http://www.largescalecentral.com/forums/category/6/vendors-and-manufacturers

Promote the hobby as the preachers say! List this stuff in the vendor section here!

I am looking to bash my Geep and I too wish there were more available. I can’t add to what has already been suggested other than we do have a guy John C. who is looking to help us out with detailing parts. He is a jewelry caster in another life and has set up a shop to do casting in brass. I think he will be able to cast in brass anything we want if we can get him wax masters. If you can form the master and pour and RTV rubber mold then you can cast wax masters until your hearts content. Send them to him and he can spit out brass.

Just a thought. I do miss all the HO super detailing parts. I can’t even see them anymore. So like everyone here I will be bashing and creating my own.

One thing we can do and suggest is that if we do create reproducible parts via casting or 3D printing we might want to share. I have no problem buying detail parts from anyone whether it be from a professional or a hobbyist.

David Maynard - I am in the vendor’s section:

or, at least, I think I am.

Thank you

Gilbert

You certainly are. I apologize…but I’m not Maynard…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

I am. And I was glad to see you there, when you signed up there, Gilbert.

That beacon looks pretty good. I am searching for my copy of a line drawing of the Prime 8911 beacon. The flash rate is 80fpm, with only 1 light lighted at any one time. Prime used the common Stratolite brand #80 dome. Also used on many revolving beacons in other brands. It has a lightly rounded top and the sides slightly angle outwards. I can take some close ups of my light and any measurments you need in the mean time. Mike

Gee, I have an LGB switcher that is going to loose its beacons, when the shop crew finally works through the backlog.
