Large Scale Central

Construction on The Sunny View Line

Very nice. Looking good. How feet is your main line going to be? I just got the balast on my line down. Now I have to start laying some track. My main Line is only about 60ft. Not big but. Eventually i will add on . Keep up the good work and keep posting.

Shawn, once you get track down and water it, you'll be amazed at how it grows.

Beautiful!

Took a break from construction and ran a few trains today. The inner loop under the bridge is now completed so I don’t have to back up the train anymore. I finished it after taking the second picture. I have somewhere around 200 feet of track down. I have about 75 feet left to go. Initially I planned to do about 100 feet to start. Ralphhttp://

Looks Great Ralph…nice Bridge btw! of course the rain this weekend will make it all look different!

We had some pretty good rain last weekend. Now some things no longer look the same. But not do to the rain. I added a passing track under the future(soon) bridge and straightened the route a bit under the other bridge site. I also have a stubborn dog who likes to dig. The rake is in is favorite spot. Dear Ralph;

If you sprinkel alot of black pepper or a smaller amount of cyian where your dog likes to dig it will change it's mind as to if it wants to dig or not.
Just thought I'd share that with you.

                                                                                            Smokebox

Looking great by the way.

lookin good! keep up the great work & keep posting those pictures.
Terry

Thanks for the encouragement!
The pepper trick is a good idea.
Ralph

Looking good. The best feeling is being able to run the trains for the first time. Now you you can run the trains and work at the same time.

Pepper works for the smaller critters, I heard something about somebody’s horse and the railway, for that boil a few bottles of the hottest hot sauce you can find down by over half ( You might want to do this outside!!) Or use some mace then paint fence post with the stuff, horses will tast then leave. It works, Honnest ( but it really ticks off your horses, so you may not want to ride them for a bit) LMAO

                                                                                                                   Smokebox

Unless that horse thing was an open gate, for that use a swift application of a size 10 boot!! “LMAO”

                                                                                                                                                    Smokebox

I have made a change in the route on the number 2 line. As you can see from the picture, the bridges have been realigned so the track will now pass between the two ridges. The cinder blocks still show the old bridge locations until I get around to removing them.

I’ve run trains for the last two days.Line number 1 still has some fine grading left to do. However, my Bachmann 0-6-0 can now run for several hours at a rather high rate of speed without derailment.

Alas the Mighty Mack switcher can not pull the track cleaning caboose up the steeper grade. Fortunately The Big Hauler handles it easily. Ralph

Dontcha just love it when a plan comes together…

The walk over makes a great observation deck. Are you running trains yet?

I recently bought a box of old production test parts made about 20 years back for Train Town buildings. I put together one of the houses, and its the same building that Aristo now sells like the yellow one pictured. It took me a second to realize something was different about yours. It has shutters on the windows!

I wish I had that Carolina dirt. Instead I have Virginia red clay. :frowning:

That Carolina dirt has a wee bit of clay content. Varies through out the yard. Some places have a very low clay content, while other places it is mostly clay.
Yes, I am running trains. Unfortunately construction has slowed a bit because of it!
This week I hope to get the wiring installed so I can do away with the temporary wiring.
Ralph

The walk over does indeed make a great observation deck. I regulate the younger nieces, nephews and grandchildren to the walk over when they are watching the trains. Here is my Buddy L pulling the steep grade under the bridge construction site.

Looks like the track side mowing crew has been slacking off. Ralph

I always snap the shot an instant too late!

The track to the left will be raised considerably. The bridge will be about one and one half inches lower when installed. Ralph

Ralph,

It’s not you, it’s your camera. Some digi-cams have “a bit of lag”.
