2016 Official winter photos !

There are other things that make for winter operations than snow in the northern hemisphere

But the snow makes it that much more fun, or so some people say anyway…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Winter 2016. We’ve finally got rain, but it’s the oranges that are the problem.

That can be a problem… lol.

We received the perfect amount of snow from yesterdays blizzard and today was sunny and a perfect day to run the plow extra.

Approaching Coal Dump Curve…

Working hard entering the curving grade…

Crossing the bridge at Indian Hill…

Nearing Pine Summit…

Reversing down the wye about to go through Walk Crossing…

The work was not without incident. The lead plow went on the ground numerous times, mostly due to buried branches across the tracks. This was the worst, derailing on a frog at Indian Hill Junction…

We even cleared all the sidings. Going up the lead to Walk TransLoad…

The crew finished up in plenty of time to see the kick off of the AFC Championship game (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

Nice pictures Jon. I had about a foot here, too deep for the plow. I used my trusty kids snow shovel. Only issue I had was rails kept getting icy causing wheels to slip too much.

The gremlins were running my camera … these are the best I could find.

I will look into how to convert some of the files back to JPG’s.

Well no snow to speak of, wish there was, looks like fun to go plowin.

Boys out pulling in a string of logs with their second hand shay. We might not have snow but it still gets chilly here in the desert gotta have logs for those fires.

Not much snow ON the layout, but getting to it is a problem with 3’ drifts all around it…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

good stuff guys!

I’m excited that I finally have something to contribute here. But like the last few posts you won’t see any snow in my video. It was a beautiful 53 degree day here. This is actually footage from the first successful run of my railroad. I had one switch gauging problem to fix and now things seem to run pretty smooth. I apologize for the short and shaky video. Running live steam up and down a 1.5% grade and throwing the switches for the reverse loops was keeping me busy. Really looking forward to getting R/C installed in this engine. I was able to run for over an hour without one derailment.

Looks great Randy!

Way to go Randy

Great pictures, everyone!

Congrats on the success, Randy! And everyone else.

Randy its nice to see you up and running. steamer looks great. You have to make those switches spring loaded so you dont have to keep switching them.

Here are a few pictures from a few days ago.

Took this one the other day as well Shawn.

Feb 1st and it’s in the high 50s!!

Sean nice shot. Guess your snow is gone. Im guessing ours will be by end of week. Strange seeing grass so much this winter. doesn’t happen often here.

well the snow is nearly gone but it is February…does that count?

I got a couple of cars for my Frank S at the Springfield train show last weekend one more from fleabay will make a nice set! I have had Frank since around 1990 and never had proper German styled cars for it. when my buddy Jerry scored a nearly new one at the Cabin Fever show, I thought it would be fun to get some proper cars for mine and put Frank back on the active roster.

Looks really fine Eric. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
