Large Scale Central

2015 official summer running thread

Coming along real good there Ken!(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Here are two views of a friend’s layout I took with my quadcopter during a meet last week. I don’t know why, when you click on the image, that it has a red filter on it, but it goes away when you click the little pink bar above the upper left corner of the image.

Last weekend I decided that I really needed to play with my Climax, so I pulled her out of the garage and fired her up.

Since a few trees have been felled on the south side of my property, I felt that the P&CS needed to run a logging train. After taking a few log cars to her, I put her to work.

Today I decided to test out the improvements of adding ball bearings to my USA woodside cars. I only have 4 upgraded at this point, but my Mogul was able to haul all of them up the grade, even with only 4 of them upgraded to ball bearings.

Nice !

Here are a few shots from last weekend testing out my new Piko 37220

Nice looking, Your layout looks great. like the ground cover. And so does it run as good as it looks?(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

It runs fantastic, nice & smooth and a great stock smoke unit. You do have to be very gentle in transporting it as a lot of the detail pieces are very thin and can easily break.

I just wish Piko would put this level of detail into there USA modeled trains.

One other note, this locomotive is ALL plastic (accept for the Stainless Steel bands around the wheels) so some weight may be needed if you plan on hauling long trains.

good stuff!

The princess just added (5) more gnomes to the yard over the last 2-weeks… I think there is about 50 of them scattered around the yard, not including all the ones that have migrated inside the house!

Looking good David and Vince! I need to do a little clean-up and put the old bridge back in to reconnect the track, Then maybe I can run a train or two this weekend.

Ghetto rules

Great photos…

David R. Sure nice looking pass car… Nice work… Sharp…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)

The C.V.S.Ry. ran several revenue trains yesterday including a passenger run. Unfortunately the staff photographer was nowhere to be found. The engineer on Shay #5 will be disciplined for ignoring a low fuel warning from the fireman (actually the RailBoss low battery rescue mode) running out of steam while headed back up the hill to sweep the RR. Thus the sweep train duties were relegated to Porter #3. It was quite a site to see that little engine bring a 9 car train down the grade. And it’s a good thing it’s down grade all the way home because once on the flat indoors #3 couldn’t keep all 9 cars moving around the balloon track.

spectacular weekend here in CT

I took the twins out for a spin.

Good stuff guys. Nice to see everyone taking advantage of the summer weather. Hard to believe we are almost halfway through Aug grrrr…

The last week I got to run some live steam and sparkies in between.
