Large Scale Central

2019 Security Certificate

The 2019 Security Certificate for LSC expired again tonight. You will get locked out by your browsers unless

  1. BD renews it
  2. Except the risk
  3. Log on to http://largescalecentral.com instead of https://largescalecentral.com

and of course logging in as http:// exposes your password to the internet…

accept the risk and stay on https://

Greg

Yeah, you are correct. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)

The way BD feels right now, maybe we should pass the hat to pay for the certificate?

Im ready to add some more to the coffers

its a hundred bucks or less, mine is about 75 and on auto renewal

I had actually renewed it back on 9/19 and they never installed it. I logged a ticket with them last night and it should be all set now.

Not on my browser yet.

I don’t know what any of this certificate stuff is about, and I freaking don’t want to know, but I do want to say:

Thank you.

It’s fine in the Olde Country, Bob.

Thank You BD! (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

It is fine here in Ottawa; thank you Bob.

What they said. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

OK,

I’ve dumped the cache, deleted LSC from my favorites, and my browser Safari still warns me the site is not secure.

So I tried Chrome; same results.

What now?

You over-reacted, in a panic…in a security frenzy…

I care very much about security, but when first faced with the announcement; I just sat back and counted to ten; waited a few hours, and suddenly found, that I had little to worry about…I guess in some minds, I was lucky…but then I haven’t let the internet take over my life.

Fred Mills

So how long should I wait, Fred?

A week, year?

I’m not in a panic, but you might be.

Have you tried just typing in https://largescalecentral.com/forums into the url line? The site is definitely secure and running well again.

A general comment regarding ANY BROWSER. If you are still having difficulties getting to LSC via a bookmark in your browser, delete the bookmark, navigate to LSC the old fashioned way and generate a new bookmark. Be sure to use the HTTPS before bookmarking.

Works on IE, Edge, Chrome, Firefox on Windows.

Deleting the cache should have done it. (and of course look and be sure your address starts with https://

Maybe you need to update your root certificates in your browser.

There is a procedure to do this, google “update root certificates safari”

By the way, the current certificate is good, expires Oct 4, 2020, but it is from Sectigo Ltd, used to be Comodo, a real mainstream certificate company

Greg

Never had an issue using Firefox on my Linux machine, Edge took a bit of time but all good now.
