Building and Testing a Hi Rail truck

Here is a video of a project I have been tinkering on, a High Rail truck.

There is still some tinkering to do but it runs pretty good.

Cool build, Todd.

Todd,

You did great!

It’s a cool idea, and yes you have some tinkering to do. Any chance you can use a wider tire at the rear, so it spins while running around the track?

I had originally bought longer screws to attach the front wheels directly to the drive wheels but found that they hung too low and would bump on curve track and over switches. I had thought about rigging up an elastic band from the drive to the rear truck axle which I might still experiment with. It does kind of bug me that the wheels don’t spin when this buggy tears down the track. The 4 tires and the front guide wheels are positioned just above the track so they do not catch. The drive wheels on the block and the rear flanged train wheels are what keep the rig on the track.
