Sprite Valley RR - testing first loop

rst testing of the large garden loop of the Sprite Valley Railroad. Sorry for the wind noise. It’s windy here. And the section of track by the fence that looks like it’s tilted was tilted. It’s fixed now. Eventually, this will all be placed on properly laid paving block. The ballast job was temporary. Also, the little s curves will, likely, go away in the final layout.

My locomotive was derailed by a stink bug.

I hate when that happens! (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

It was a large stink bug, to be fair…

get one of these!

(sweeper car)

That’s rather clever.

I had a problem with Black ants, there were so many that they lifted the wheels off the track and stopped the train! I made wipers from 3m fiber pads. Worked great until it rained and wicked the water into the motor … (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-yell.gif)Killed it.

Daniel, you can buy the motor and brush kit relatively inexpensively. Search my site for “sweeper car”…

Greg

I’ll do that. Thanks.

Redesign of the Sprite Valley RR.

The s-curves go away The main line does a wide detour around the industrial area. A spur serves the Koobler Cookie Company (we’re the other elves). To the right side are switches going to the track that serves town. That is primarily a street car track.

Well I’ll be damned…that nice steam loco got through all those s-curves…although I notice at 1:20 it got bumpy and seemed about to derail on, what else?, it looks like, an aristo turnout. Nice job.

It is better and more realistic with the “S” curves removed. The only reason to have one is to get around a immovable object which on my RR was 2 large trees and a wonder of the world giant (plastic) mushrooms.

On your track plan sketch if you move your switches into the curve it will give you a smoother transition into the other loop. You could also move them to the center of the 2 tracks and make a double crossover which would make for a really interesting focal point.

Happy RRing!
