Wonder if he would sell the chassis without the body? Would be cool to convert some Hubley cars to actually run (hint to Bob’s thread on Hubley) (http://www.largescalecentral.com/forums/topic/27333/hubley-kits/view/post_id/346194)

Awesome! Thanks for posting this, Korm.

If you go to GSC, he talks a bit about the cars, apparently he takes a motorized car and changes the electronics, adds a battery, etc.

If he goes to all that trouble I’m sure you can get the chassis… although realize that the car body is most likely the LEAST expensive part! (you probably don’t save any real money).

Cool stuff.

There are several 1/24 hobby-grade RC cars, trucks and tanks on the market, and a few 1/32, most are 4wd, some 2wd. Prices vary between $79 - 199 each, all are 2.4, and with the multitude of car and truck hobby kits out there, easy to find replacement bodies.

Mike, this stuff is controlled by sensing something in the road, and clearly has finer directional control compared to an R/C toy. Also, notice it is automated.

To automate, you need a feedback system, so wireless would not work, since the “control” for where the car is on the road is between the car and the road, not the car and some remote operator.

Also, if you were running a system like this wireless is a bad choice, you quickly run into issues of too many things on the frequency.

So, a guide in the road is cheapest, visual takes a lot more processor power (ask Tesla!)

This guy does explain a little bit on G Scale Central, and if you research the names he gives, you can probably see how the system works.
