Snow in July?? not exactly

There is a spot on my RR that loops around a pine tree with low branches.

I didn’t want to cut the branches but they would often droop onto the tracks and need to be tied up.

The answer was building something that I have been wanting to for a time and the snow shed was the best idea for this spot.

After looking at photos online I designed, cut, glued, nailed and stained 2 so I now have a 36" and a 48" long snow sheds.

Here is a video of the first trains going through the sheds. The build was pretty simple as you shall see and I’m happy with the results.

That looks great! I actually do need a snow shed to protect an area where the roof drips in winter and builds ice on the track. I have been using some corrugated plastic just in the winter, but something like this would look so much better.

I thought your subject was real. I had the heat on both yesterday and this morning in the car (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

Nice structure, Todd… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Jon - In your neck of the woods, consider using a piece of valley flashing for the roof. One piece, can be gotten up to about 15 or so inches wide and smooth surface. Should eliminate ice buildup on the snow shed…

Ha

That’s what happens when you lose weight , your were used to being always hot!

I got spoiled running in the basement. When I finally moved outside, there was a steep learning curve on what Mother Nature deals out to the RR.

It’s a battle. Maybe a scale battle, but still it’s a battle to deal with. I like how you handled it!
