CSX ballast train came through town today. I have seen this sitting on sidings before, but never caught it in action until today. Enjoy.

That is friggin’ wild! That’s nothing like the ballast trains through here.

I would love to build a model of that thing. But my logging crews would probably freak out if they saw something like that rolling down the track.

Does this thing under cut or just clean the shoulders?

OK I have seen similar equipment in the BNSF yard or on the tracks and knew it had to be some sort of track maintenance equipment but I had no idea what it did. That’s cool thanks for sharing.

I’ve got a video of one of those working when I went out to Bart’s awhile back. Noisy suckers. This was just south of Ashland KY.
