Large Scale Central

Source for North East Narrow Gauge plans?

Most of us recall those VERY useful NENG pull-out plans in every issue of Garden Rail magazine in the last 20-something years. Latterly they were made available via the website, I’m told, but I may have that wrong.

The particular one I’m looking for is #15, the drover’s caboose, which is, of course, the very one that I used to build my recent coffee-stirrer caboose, by getting the plans scaled up to 16mm scale.

Needless to say, I have most of them, should anybody here be in need of a particular plan, and can list them if necessary. Copies will be free to anybody who needs one, of course, because that’s the way this forum works.

Soooo, if anybody could loan me or send me a copy of #15, my joy will be complete.

Why? Because I’ve been told that I can go ahead and build it to a scale of 2.5" to the foot to run on our big railway over at Ramsey Mereside…

I will make a copy and send it.

Ken, old floon, why don’t I just move into a little shack at the end of your backyard? That way it would save on all the mailing costs. You are not unkindness personified.

As for anybody else in need of a NENG plan, if I have it, then so shall you, each according to his need.

Best to all here.

PS - in case anybody wants to know what happened to MY original that was enlarged to make my rather odd-scale van, I really have no idea. The enlargements were cut up to use as templates, since all the dimensions on the plan are imperial, and here we work in metric.

Just so happens I have a shack already back there, too…second floor’s vacant…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

sidestreet bannerworks http://www.sidestreet.info/railways/gr.home.html sells the plans from GR. That is if you want to pay for them.

I once suggested that they make a book of all the plans. They told me it would not be a good seller, and therefore not worth the investment on their part.

David - that was my first stop, but if you look carefully you’ll see that that plan is no longer available.

Ken, that’s very, uh, gracious of you. The second floor will do just fine, if you could provide a small ladder…

tac

There’s already a ladder inside. And trains on the first floor…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Looks and sounds like hebben…

tac

tac, I didn’t even look, I just posted the link because I know where to get the plans.

It’s on it’s way, old floon. Tell Ig to look for it in the mail…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Many, many thanks. I’ll go look for it my self - there is NO way that I’d have the temerity to TELL ig to go do something. I’d get one of them flinty lools and that would be it.

Anyhow, the caboose is now drying off nicely and instead of buying a couple of Tamiya acrylic rattle-cans at $12 each, I’m using yellow primer - a kind of deep ochre not unlike UP Armor yellow but somewhat duller, a befits my nature, and I have to say that it’s looking good so far - even better with all the details picked out in Brunswick Green. Pics on the way soon.

Take care.

Jeez Ken…don’t you have a picture of it in NICE weather? You’ll never get TAC to bite on the rent on this one without a better picture…

Ken,

Is that from some past Winter, I hope?

Yea, that was from a few years ago and I didn’t want to give him the idea I lived in some tropical environment…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Snoh? Meh. I got brunged up with snoh. See that first floor window in Chateau Brunt? I’ve had snoh over the top of that in April. I go pshaw at snoh, me.

With my 42 BPM heartrate and 39.8C average temperature, added to my near-dead respiration rate of three-four per minute, I’m a shoo-in for Homo Arcticensis.
