Detailed RS-1 Drawings

I’m looking for a set of detailed Alco RS-1 drawing that have dimensions. I think I’ve been to every internet site and can’t find anything. I have found simple line drawing but I need something either to scale or with dimensions so that I can copy them and import them into my “Scale Print” software and create some 1:29th scale drawings. I need to draw up the short nose end so I can get it 3D printed by a friend who got a new printer for his birthday.

I have 2 USA, S-4 diesel locomotives that I’m using for this project as that is what the original RS-1’s where made out of. Basically all I have to make is the short nose portion, a new cab, and a new base frame with Aristo Craft trucks and I have a RS-1. Of course I know I’ll need more then that, but this is where I need to start. Any suggestions?

Thanks guys, I already have all those, but I’m still looking. I did find 1 drawing that had 1 dimension written on it so I printed it of and put it in Scale Print. I’ll see how close it got after I find my 1:29th scale ruler. It never fails you find one item and then you can’t find the other. I really can’t wait to get my office finished in the shop so I have a place to put everything.

you see these? http://prr.railfan.net/diagrams/PRRdiagrams.html?diag=as-10a_E441455c.gif&sel=die&sz=sm&fr=

Well I wanted to report on a little progress. I haven’t found my 1:29th scale as of yet but after looking at drawings of both the RS-1 and the RS-3 the basic frames are the same width. I just happen to have a section of the RS-3 frame that I found over the weekend and matched it up to the drawing I printed off. The base frame in the drawing is a perfect match in width to the piece I have. Now on to the next step, cutting and taping all the drawing sections together.

BTW, if anyone has a RS-3 base frame that they don’t need or want to sell let me know. It’s easier to modify sometimes.

Great news the drawing I found with the one and only dimension printed out perfectly to the 1/29th scale I needed for this RS-1 project. I was also able to locate a base frame from a RS-3 on e-bay and it should be here by the middle of next week so we can get started. Once I get going on this project I’ll start a new thread/article for everyone to follow.

I’ll also be designing the short hood section so that I can get it 3-D printed. Which should make it available for anyone wanting to make their own RS-1 out of a USA Trains S-4 and Aristo Craft RS-3 parts. Then you can sell off the remaining parts like I’ll be doing after I’m done. Thanks for your help and keep watching.
