Straightening Twisted Diecast

I am assembling my first ever diecast metal model. It is a 1929 Model A station wagon from a company named “Scale Models” of Dyersville Iowa. I’m guessing that it is a successor to the original Hubley kits.

It has an inordinate amount of flash, a number of holes must be drilled out and the instructions are missing a few of the parts assembly such as the rear bumper and such. All not a big deal and it has taken a fair amount of time to clean it all up. I was always assuming that it was going to be a bit more effort than the plastic models of my youth.

And now the problem - virtually all of the large pieces, frame, body sides and roof, are all a bit twisted and do not fit together very well. Since this is “pot metal” it is rather brittle and I certainly don’t wish to break anything in my attempts to straighten them out to remove the gaps and misalignment.

Any suggestions, tips and techniques are greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Mark
